Pneumatic doors. What are they good for?
They don't stop gas or liquid. The other doors do.
They slow your dupes down for a split second.
If there's no benefit to having them, I'd rather have my dupes run around as freely as possible. So what's the deal? Am I missing something here?

As far as I can tell, asthetics.

Well if you ever get a Puff farm it might help keep them in place while allowing gasses to pass.

they're only good for bugging out pc/npc's pathfinding xD
can't think of any single instance they're useful since they bug out pathfinding, and they open for mobs in auto mode, otherwise it's just a cheaper alternative to other doors that could keep mobs in or out.

Alright cool, good to know they're good for something. It's cheaper than using a gas pump then.

Wait, how could they corral mobs if mobs can open them?

Set them to 'closed' and they shouldn't be able to open them. Which is good because they tend to get squished

they block snoring

They add a little decor to the room.

Thanks! I didn't know this about doors, it should prove useful.

Cool, so you could give loud snorers their own room, or divide the sleeping room with the doors. I'll test this out sometime.

Unfortunately they don't. You can check this by going on the decor overview and hovering over the tiles next to the door. It doesn't mention anything about them.

they close a room, it preventing sleeping dup from being woke up by people snoring or walking by ( usually someone using the toilet at night). It also affect decor not that it give any but decor of the closed room wont be affected by anything near it even if it would normally be in range(can be usefull if you have load of piping and ladder near an area)

Actually, pneumatic doors don't stop the effects of decor. Manual and mechanized airlocks do.

But yes, apparently they stop snoring. I've never had someone wake up from another dupe walking past however.

Rotated they are pretty useful as access hatches in gas permeable floors.

if you lay them horizontally, they're platforms that can be walked on, climbed into/onto, or dropped through. good for making stairs down and a flat floor at the same time without using ladders (which take up space on the floor below and decrease decor)

Additionally, ladders are only 1 space thick which liquids and gasses sometimes have trouble getting through, while doors are 2 wide so having things flow works quite well.

Finally, they can be used (when locked shut) as early game (or low cost) mesh blocks, since mesh is a tier 3 research and takes far more resources per tile

wow didn't realize they could be placed horizontally, it got much more utilities this way, works perfect for puff farm! thanks for the tips

You have gasses, liquids, solids. The doors pneumatic doors are perfect for stopping solids while allowing gasses and liquids to pass. Solids being dirt from a steam room, slime from puffs, and any living creature. Stops enraged Duplicates from destroying precious machines, and apparently snoring.

If you make floors with "iron mess floors" without pneumatic doors you will wake up dubs when someone walk pass it.(not happen if you use mineral floors, it add +5 decor too).
