Contaminated oxygen is more or less free oxygen at the moment. The diseases have so little impact may as well build a base in the contaminated area and just not deal with oxygen generation. (not really suggesting that people exploit it this way, but really the diseases are just almost non existent in the current build). Another thing is the building of the musher. You can rush farm tech day 2 and survive off of the wild food items and rations until the first crop of plants grow. This will save you water from creating stuff in the musher since water is your main limitter at the moment with the only renewable source from making your duplicants vomit all over. Just a few slight optimizations. This is also the reason I never take a cook or tinkerer since they are unneeded in the game's current state.
