Is there a faster way to melt ice?

I have reached a predicament. I hit Cycle 40, and by then, only a small portion of water (polluted and clean) was left. My reservoirs have gone empty, and the last water is all scattered in small pockets around the map which are too difficult to harvest for the reward.

So, I made a small insulated room with 3 space heaters, and 1 storage. I put the ice in the storage, then force-emptied the storage, which made it drop the ice. I sealed the room and turned on the heaters. Even though the room has been at maximum temperature (160 F) nonstop, the ice has not even gotten 10% closer to melting point after 10 cycles of waiting.

(I also have not been able to find a steam geyser anywhere yet)

Sounds like an unlucky map you got :(

I don't think there's a "fast" way to melt ice. I usually store mine in a container underwater in each of my water type storages. It melts over time.

I have seen a video of someone melting it with the water heater, but it wasn't going very fast, and he had water around it to heat up.

Edit: I was wrong, it was pretty fast. I don't know if it still works though, you can give it a try if you have some water :p

When the ice is stacked on top of itself, it makes that small spot very cold. That is why it is not melting. It would melt faster if you spread it out.

Try scrolling around the undiscovered areas of the map and listen for a geyser. They make a distinct noise that you can hear even if you can't see it.

This is what people tend to do, yes (but you won't need more water than the geyser supplies.) You should pump it into a pool in the ice biome, and let it build up so that it has some time to cool down. For example, make a pool that overflows into a second pool with a pump. It needs covered so that melting polluted ice doesn't contaminate.

This will basically ruin the ice biome. I suggest adding a bunch of wheezeworts to help with cooling.

Later when you have a pepper farm, you can route the water there before sending it to be cooled. Just weave the pipes back and forth in the background behind the peppers so that it warms them up.
