Aspiring game dev speaking.
Played 5 minutes and loved it.
Bought 1 copy on steam and have been showing it off to friends.
Who knows they may all get a copy for the Holidays.
Many times I try a game for free, hate it and delete it and am glad for not wasting the $.
It will be months until the release and it will most definatly change quite abit until then which negates the justification "I wanted a demo" because a) you dont know wheather there will be an offical demo at release and b) you didnt get a demo you got an early access build that shows the games concepts/ideas and graphical style (which you can get from forums/videos) while everything else will be subject to future changes.
Oh and lets not forget that this is steam where you can get a refund after a 2hour "demo" period!
I did pirate for unoiffical demos in the past. The last time about 3-4 years ago "Distant Worlds" beffore it came to steam. after an hour I bozught the package (including 2 expansions) for 90€. If you claim that this is the same situation than pirating a 20€ early access game you are either dump or lying (not just to us but to yourself).
First, I said "demo", quoted to suggest that it is not an official demo.
Second, I meant demos in general. Not just ONI, that's why I added about the gaming industry becoming popular. I was talking about every game.
And yes I am aware of Steam Refunds but it can be a slow and boring process. Sometimes the support can take long before responding to your tickets. And refunding is almost the same as cracking for a demo, really. The developer gains nothing while you have tried the game. Besides, it's not that all the time I have money in my pocket, so it skips the "waiting for my money" part and moves it after "trying the game"
Huh. Really, I don't see any difference. I don't care if it's EA or something. If it has a price tag on it, I wanna try a "demo" first before I buy it. It's still a partially completed game and they released it both to be played and to be assessed.
