Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Anniversary Edition

Is there anyway to get DoW into either 1920x1080 or at least fill the monitor up?
Title is pretty much the topic, I'm wondering if there is any way to do this without completely destroying the image quality. Also would any soloution work for all the DoW expansions?

I am wondering the same thing
My minimap is messed up
And there's weird stuff all around the corners of the screen
Running it on 1600x900

I heard that there is no real way to do so, which is strange since I have older games then DoW which are able to do either or both of those things without a problem. Oh well at least Dark Crusade and Soulstorm seem to play in 1920x1080 so its not that bad.

The resolution seems to be stored in this file:

Steam\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War Gold\Local.ini

Looks like this:

screenheight=1080 screenwidth=1920

Nope, that didn't seem to change anything. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

Strange, it works for me. This is what it looks like: screenshot

I did notice that it wrongly shows 1600x1024 in the options screen even when I'm running 1920x1080. I know it's wrong because when I actually change to 1600x1024, it gets all blurry and low-res.

Its kind of confusing to explain, but the game seems to have the resoloution of 1920x1080 but it doesn't fill the monitor all the way up.

Make sure that you set the local.ini file to Read Only. The game randomly resets the resolution to whatever it wants for me (even with Read Only ticked, sometimes). Other than that... nope, there's no other way. It's a pity, because the game is amazing. It's weird that THQ didn't include such a common resolution, but complaining will only get us so far, now that THQ has died...

Hmmm, I'll look into trying that then. It might not support that resolution since the original game is from 2004 where Widescreen monitors weren't a really big thing yet. Dark Crusade and Soulstorm support it which are the ones I'd play Skirmish on most to have all the races. Thanks for the help though.

Hello ...Good News!! :D
Actually there is finally a Solution for the missing widescreen support in Dow 1 & Winterassault.

Its an easy fix. (may take five Minutes of your time but works 100%)
Thanks to Shuny at http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php&f=63&t=25139

1.
You will need an Hexeditor - get it here http://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD

2.
Go into your W40k:GotY installation folder, locate the file "Local.ini" and edit the "screenheight" and "screenwidth" parameters to the desired resolution. For example, if you want a 1920x1080 resolution, you should have the following lines:

screenheight=1080
screenwidth=1920

3.
Open W40k.exe (W40KWA.exe for Winter Assault) and search for the following hex value: "ABAAAA3F". Replace it with 398EE33F if you have a 16/9 monitor or CCCCCD3F if you have a 16/10 monitor. Save your file.

4.
Now open Platform.dll and search for the following hex value: "ABAAAA3F". Replace it with 398EE33F if you have a 16/9 monitor or CCCCCD3F if you have a 16/10 monitor. Save your file.

5.
Now open spDx9.dll and search for the following hex value: "ABAAAA3F". Replace it with 398EE33F if you have a 16/9 monitor or CCCCCD3F if you have a 16/10 monitor. Save your file.

6.
Now open UserInterface.dll file and search for the same hex value "ABAAAA3F".
You should find 2 occurrences of this value.
Replace both occurrences with 398EE33F if you have a 16/9 monitor or CCCCCD3F if you have a 16/10 monitor. Save your file and close your hex editor.

thats it enjoy.

Thanks, it does work, however the minimap is bugged - looks very deformed and goes beyond the lower part of the screen, making it useless. Is there a way to fix it?
