DoW save files

I have the save files from when the game was first released. I tried to copy them over to the files located in the Steam directory but nothing is working. Did i paste them in the wrong location? The steam ver of DoW Goty is at Steam/Steamapps/common/Dawn of War Gold right?

\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War Gold\Profiles\Profile1\w40k\singleplayer\campaign\state1

You might want to do the first mission, then try and copy the files over, but I don;t know if copying the files will work, as the steam version is updated to the last version, so not sure if the saves are compatible. But worth a try.

Do i need to complete the 1st mission?

I would at least create a profile, and save in the mission, so you know where the saves are located. As the profile folder will then exist. Then you can quit the game, and drop the saves in the final folder. It may work, but if it doesn't, then the saves aren't compatible.
