[FIXED] Fatal Scar Error

Basically the game is not compatible with present setups. An error (fatal scar error) will often occur in many campaign missions on the opening cutscene that freezes the game and there is no way to correct it. The devs don't care and won't help. Just don't buy the game, it's dead and nothing can be done. It happens in every campaign from all the expansions.

This error ocurred at multiple specific times on DoW, WA and DC making the game unplayable. Deleting and reinstalling clean, verifying files integrity or using mods won't work. Apparently, no one actually knows what causes this and how to fix it, but it has something to do with my system.

If you google "fatal scar error dawn of war", you will see that there are other people out there with this problem, and apparently no one ever solved it.

This was solved for me only by restoring the entire computer to factory settings. What was causing the error was fixed on the reset. Error never occured again in any of the games.

If you read this thread, sorry about all the angryposting bellow. Yet, i still think that the company that owns this title IP is unresponsible for not giving any support or creating a patch when the game was released on steam, fixing existing reported errors like that. They still get money for the game and don't care if it works or not. My oppinion won't change on that.

got a new lab top had no issues with it on my old one ,now wont work at all ...ive tried patches guides no luck and steam doesnt care

The game shouldn't be available to buy at this state, and many game breaking bugs happens after hours of gameplay. For me on winter expansion the chaos campaign won't work at all, and i only found about this after playing the order campaign which breaks completely at the last mission and becomes unplayable.

I just tested this game on my office computer that is build just to run microsoft office and google chrome, and it worked just fine. What am i suppose to do? Restore my entire computer to factory settings? LOL

Some people say there a "data" folder needing to be manually created in the Engine folder of the Dawn of War installs of DoW Gold, Dark Crusade and Soulstorm to avoid failure to launch woes:

"..you will need to locate the installation folder of the game. If it's on Steam, this is easily done by finding the game in your library, right-clicking it and choosing Properties. At that point, click on the Local Files to the left side of the newly open window and then click "Browse...".

Once you do that, the install folder of your Dawn of War game will open. Click on the Engine folder, right-click an empty space and create a new folder. Name it "Data" without quotation marks. Close the explorer window and launch your game, which will now run without issue."

I have news. I just reseted my entire computer to factory settings and it's fixed. The games runs fine now, no bugs, no crashes, no FATAL SCAR ERROR.

We may never know what caused the problem. Sorry about all the angryposting i did, i just wanted to play this game and by some obscure reason my computer could not do it.

If anyone has a FATAL SCAR ERROR on this game, factory reset your computer and it's fixed.
