DOW Complete Series - Play Order and Install Question

Hi All,
Just picked up the DOW Master Collection on Sale - DOW 1 GOTY, DOW Winter Assault, DOW Dark Crusade and DOW Soul Storm and in the process of setting up. 2 Quick Questions:

I know the release order is as I listed above but:
1. Are the storyline's dependent on the preceeding game? i.e Will I have to have played Winter Assault to follow what happens in Dark Crusade as an example? or are they all independent story lines within the DOW universe?

2. After I play through DOW 1, can I uninstall it and install Winter Assault? or do I need the base game installed for each expansion?

afaik,
1. not really, but I reccomends to play following the game release. the story in DoW only continued on Winter Assault, then on DoW II. Dark Crusade and Soulstorm follows Blood Ravens on different campaign.

2. back then you must have DOW1 to play Winter Assault since it's a expansion. (Dark Crusade and Soulstorm are standalone). I dont see it got patched tho.

i think you still need the original DOW to play as the other races in soulstorm/dark crusade.
otherwise Quanza know more than me about lore as i did not like DOW II (i missed the base-building elements)

Cheers, thanks lads. I will play in the order of release as you suggested.

I just installed DOW1 last night (no installation problems to my surprise ) - and absolutely loving it! - you can actually see many similarities in User Interface, Gameplay elements to Relic's later work in 'Company of Heroes' but still fantastic.

dark rusade and dow2 share characters if i rember corretly

Im playing winter assault in disorder atm. So if I play order the story continues or did I mis read the above?

I dont understand your question, but this is the order

1. DoW1
2. DoW - Winter Assault (Continuation of story from Dow1)
3. DoW - Dark Crusade (Indep.storyline)
4. DoW - Soult Storm (Indep. storyline)

In winter assault there is the disorder orc/chaos campaign or you can choose to be eldar/marines. I played chaos because I wanted to try the new factions so im guessing if I choose the "order" story thats the continuation? Kind of a cliff hanger in dow I hate endings like that.
