Mission 8 The Chapel failed for no reason?

So this is my very first time playing dawn of war and im somewhat new to 40k as a whole. I was just about to capture a strategic point below the first relic when all of a sudden out of nowhere the game says i failed the mission. Anyone know why? What did I do wrong?

You need reach the friendly base on the other side of the ravine, if you leave it too long the Chaos forces eventually destroy the automated defences and kill the base.

The base should have a red map ping showing you where it is, just use Assault Marines to jump the gap at a place of your choosing.

There's plenty of time to build up resources on your side of the map and tech up to orbital relay. Then load up your squads and drop them at the base with the machine cult factories.

The assault marines will not jump across. They just skert the side of the ravine. I click the jump and select across and nothing.
