If you happen to have a log from a play session where this has happened, I'd be interested to see it (logs are overwritten each time the game is started - instructions on where to find them are in the FAQ thread).
Just to make sure I understand correctly, are you saying that Tavern Wager doesn't give you rewards, but the game continues, or are you saying that the entire game softlocks when Tavern Wager should give you rewards?
After beating the adventure boss, I would receive the rewards for that. Then, when Tavern Wager should start the game would effectively just pause. No text from the encounter would display. Some cards would be stacked up on the right side of the screen, for me the 'Humble Spirit' Blessing was visible each time. This exact same sequence happened 3 times, no variation. The game didn't crash and I could use the escape menu perfectly fine, but I couldn't advance.
I had somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20 weapons that needed to be returned, I'd hazard a guess that could be the cause.
In endless, there's some encounter logic that can take a while to resolve (eg: if you're hoarding a ton of equipment, shops can take upward of a minute to show the sell menu). Do you recall how long you'd left it before bailing?
Is there any way i can edit the save or something to get my save back, or would I be forced to start a new one?
Here is the log: https://pastebin.com/6FvcgHUL
The problem is probably near the line
"The referenced script on this Behaviour (Game Object 'Objective 0') is missing!"
or something.
Unfortunately, there isn't anything there that directly indicates the problem (missing script warnings are present in all HoF2 log files), but it does help narrow things down.
As I said previously, the stars ever align to allow us to do a patch that addresses this kind of issue, I'll be looking into it, and the information you and others have provided is very much appreciated.
Sadly, I don't have a way to recover saves that have gotten stuck in this state.
