Chariot, not enough civilians to save?
Just finished Chariot with everything possible unlocked on maps and was forced to end it with 4 civilians short, which prevented me from getting a gold coin.

Anybody else had this issue?

Did any of them die during the events where you're fighting Corrupted alongside some civilians? I think you have to make sure all of them survive.

Idk, but it will be odd to restart the chapter everytime someone dies outside of your view zone.

Was able to complete this one, easier than some other challenges. Had to go to every square. If fire blocks your path sometimes you have to go the long way around. If it blocks your way east go north and east or south and then east, etc.

I've done this and had all the civilians on their knees when the fight ended, I still gained all 5 for winning the fight.

Estrella will be surely grateful for your assistance in the Old City.

It sounds like you may have attempted to catch the children in the Hungry Paupers encounter using the Precision Gambit, but only saved 4 of them the 8 children. Try returning to the encounter and offering some food to coax them out.

Hope this helps!

If you miss 4 of them,I'm sure you didn't give food to these children. If you catch them and success,4 of them will be saved, but 4 still remain.

More likely:
If you fail to catch ANY, giving food will also only give you 4, meaning you lose 4 potential kids.
Had this happen on two missions. Is this intended?

Thanks guys! :)

Wait so even if you attempt to catch the kids, fail and return later with the food you still only save 4? That's so dumb -.-

Failure has consequences!

So it's really intended?
As the food cost is 8 for 8 civilians, and after failure it rises to 12 for 4 (which is absolutely useless, just like getting 0), I assumed there had been a mistake.
Sounded like the consequence was supposed to be "you gotta pay 4 food more", not "you gotta pay 4 food more and you don't get a gold token anyway but we won't tell you yet". Might as well remove the gold token right there, no?

Also weird how this is the only way to permanently lose civilians.

Wow, that's even worse than the thing he said elsewhere where it didn't tell you that you could have saved more. That's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the player for absolutely no reason. I could see 'Huge Failure' scrubbing the mission like that, maybe, if you're an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who wants to make I Wanna Be The Guy: The Deckbuilder, but regular failure? No, ♥♥♥♥ that, that's just bad game design. Do not punish the player for seeking out gameplay.

Who said anything about scrubbing the mission? The moon token (silver) is a solid "win" and is all that's needed to progress.

It's OK if that's not to your taste, but in the cases where there are both, positive experiences with the game are probably going to come from viewing the sun token (gold) requirements as a bonus objective that asks the player to work out, master, and excel at what the challenge throws at them.

Sun tokens are typically easier to get by coming back later. In this case, cards that help with precision gambits might help, or maybe cards that grant more food might be good (since the encounter discussed is specifically framed as being about the children being hungry, and feeding them from the outset is the option with no risk of failure).

Beside that, I'll take another look at the encounter logic and make sure that the failure consequences are behaving as intended.

The moon token is trivial and takes two or three tries at most. The sun token, because this notification is not given, can take over a dozen, with no idea what's going wrong. For most attempts on The Chariot, losing that gambit is scrubbing the mission, because the only reason the player is there is to get the gold token.
