Food working right?
The tutorial says that each food gives a buff, and says if you hover over the nutrition bar, you see what buffs the character has. The wiki lists the specific advantages as well.

Except when I hover over the nutrition bar, i see either nothing, or a bonus to work and map speed... while the salad + bread should give them just a healing bonus, based on the wiki.

Does anyone know if this is working properly?

Also some polite design criticism: I like the idea of making food variety to get buffs. Investing in the organization and infrastructure of having better fed survivors makes them more effective. Perfectly logical, and offers an optimization goal for the base, rewarding players for taking the extra effort. But the speed that it escalates isn't realistic. Having them eat one of each food type just makes those buffs too expensive. I mean seriously... just because they're serving salad, bread, pasta, pickles and sandwiches, everyone decides to eat enough to feed five people? I can see em eating bigger meals to earn the buffs, but this just seems too much.

Minor update: Just had a survivor eat salad + bread + foodcan. (He might've gotten a sandwich too, but I don't think so.) Hovering over nutrition shows 10% workspeed, 30% map speed and 10% accuracy. According to the wiki, he should be getting just healing speed (and maybe a 20% work speed for the sandwich).

So perhaps it's just the number of types that he eats to determine the buffs? Or maybe the hover text is incorrect, and he's secretly getting what the wiki says?

The in-game hovers are correct, and it depends on the amount of food items. You can also open the colony management window (default V) and select which food types to eat or not, and see the bonuses that will be given.

I had the same problem. So thanks for the explanation. Additionally I agree, that getting buffs of food is way to expensive

It was quite liberating for me and my farming staff to find out that they'd function better on bread and salad than just pasta. Now we make pasta purely for export. I wonder who those rich bastards are who're eating it...

I realize the release date is coming up and the developers probably have plenty to do with the story missions... but it'd be nice if we could specify different diets for specific subgroups of colonists. The average working slob doesn't need that pricey evasion bonus, but I wouldn't mind my task force having it.
