Besides a good science researcher my starting 3 always change a little.
In my next game I think I'll want someone with the medic skill.

I like having one guy that has melee bonuses and one that has ranged/bow to create a main tank and ranger for missions.
Everything else is kinda useless as it only saves a small amount of time on jobs which has diminishing returns as time goes on as you level up and get randoms in to your settlement that sometimes outstrip your starting characters.
In middle you will need 2 kinds specialization : Def structures(build) and Consecration(ritual)...
