XENOVERSE vs XENOVERSE 2
Hi there!
Is it true that it's not worth to buy both parts of DB XENOVERSE? I've heard that XENOVERSE 2 has much better gameplay and more things to unlock. I've read that some part of Xenoverse 1 story can be played in Xenoverse 2 so I guess I won't miss much if I skip the first game?

Is there anything like "Complete Edition" for Xenoverse 2? I guess not but it doesn't hurt to ask :)

Thanks :)

well depend, you can play xenoverse 2 without playing xenoverse 1 no problem, is like an upgraded version of XV1, but you lose on transferring your character from XV1 to 2 and the special cut scenes.

I won't recommend to buy all of the dlcs, unless you want a character from a specific one, because the all the dlcs are going for 200$+ as is right now.

I would suggest not buying Xenoverse 1. The story is exactly the same, you can play a lot of the cutscenes side-by-side and see how things are copy pasted. There's also the fact that that all the Parallel Quests (side missions) from the first game are in this too.

It feels like Xeno 1 was a test run for Xeno 2. The only thing the first game does better in my opinion is give you're character a good amount of screen time and action scenes in the single player cutscenes.

If you're thinking about grabbing Xeno 2, just skip the first one :)

Edit: if you're looking for a complete edition, the Switch version has the original story mode baked into it (If you don't mind playing at 30fps)

As someone who personally played Xenoverse 1 to 100%. I'd only recommend grabbing the second one, even if you miss out on the data transfer, the combat is much better, plus you won't have to rewatch almost identical cutscenes for 70% of the time nest missions.

You can add the XV1 campaign to XV2. This was a Switch exclusive, but the PC version of XV2 can be modded to have the campaign. Get yourself a copy of "Legend Patrol", and XV2 Patcher. Waipa should show up after completing a bit of the XV2 campaign.

Hopefully Bandai would eventually sell Legend Patrol (and Legend 1 & 2 for XV3), but it is anyone's guess whether that would happen. In the meantime, I recommend picking up the DLC during a steep sale - there is plenty of vanilla content to keep you tied up for quite a while.

it depends grind in 1 for 93 lvl to reach mastery with elder kai can be massive but i just did it and i consider it as real ending of the game. my xenoverse 1 character is at 95 lvl with unlocked potential and there is nothing more to do. for nostalgia factor i would recommend but it would be much better if you had a friend to play it together. there is some archaic stuff in 1, like only 1 master randomly show up in town at time so it takes a while to get the one you want or need, some have also lower chance to appear. there is also one very hard quest Super Saiyan Bargain Sale that i found impossible without certain z-soul, that you get for mastery with Tien (it negates kamehamehas)

XV1 was a miserable grind when it was active. You absolutely need to do PQs with other people to get the EXP needed to progress the single-player story. At this point, XV1 is obviously deader than dead. There's no one to grind with so you'd end up having to solo grind stuff way under your level and it would take forever.

Unless you're going to cheat and do a save edit or something, I say avoid XV1.

although i still saw people solo exping low lvls in XV1 when i played it yesterday, i even used to do couple of high lvl runs with someone. if you have dlc you can wish shenron for new characters (you can farm balls in pq 2) and use omega shenron + super 17/gogeta as your assists they have good health stats. z-soul from mix shop "i'm neither piccolo nor kami" is also helpful for pve.

basically if you get XV1 + XV2 you will have more of Xenoverse without buying a lot of dlcs for 2. combat system isnt that terrible is just more simple. but if you don't have patience to enjoy a game in slow pace then is not good idea to get play 1 over 2.

oh and pro tip that you wont find anywerse else regarding XV1 if you decide to grind for mastery with elder kai, do not waste Shenron wish to grow (it adds missining exp to level up), before 90, since you would be only able to use it ONCE.

regarding watching the same scenes, if you are a fan, then you probably played many other db games with the same repeative stuff over and over again or watched db Z db kai etc few times so it depends, if you play XV1 to XV2 quickly it can be tiresome but making few months break can help.

Xenoverse 2 does everything 1 does but better so there's that

Think of Xenoverse 2 like the updated Directors Cut, if you will (though they are different games). 2 is just generally better with more content and support. By all means, buy the first game but just know that what you get is just that. Whereas Xenoverse (even without the DLC) has more content and continues to receive packs.

Yeah, Xenoverse 1 was pretty much a tech demo of what would eventually become Xenoverse 2.

Only reason to get Xenoverse 1 right now is if you want to import your custom character into the story. But that's kind of pointless, since A) they're not a playable character, and B) the only time you get to see them fight is during the end of the story mode.

Aside from that, their presence in Xenoverse 2 is non-consequential.
