Because it is literally the only mentor in the game that presents you with this kind of challenge, and not everybody is a hard core, competitive gamer?
I play games for fun, not sport. And I've been able to get through the game pretty well so far without having to master any advanced combo strategies!

I've been doing this combo multiple times, but when it gets to the end where you have to use heavenly arrow the game won't give me credit for the last input.
-Edit finally shortly after typing this I finished his lessons. It's annoying to get the combos to register but it's doable.
I actually managed to do it after giving it a second try.
Still angry about it, though.
The fact that this game had the gall to insult me with such an irritating challenge.
