[Suggestion] Roller Coasters
I think that there should be more information on the Roller Coaster screen, perhaps as a popup tooltip, to let us know max height, max incline, type of track available (corkscrew/loops/helix) number of trains and cars etc.

I've just built a nice little Vertical Drop Coaster... rakes in £8 a pop, 8 peeps per train, 65 seconds of screaming sickness, costing around £11,700'ish... but I can only have 1 train (fine) but there are no car adjustments. So I feel pretty good that I managed to create a rocking rollercoaster but frustrated that I cannot add more cars... I would have curtailed the size a little and changed my platform around if I had known that I'd be stuck with the worlds smallest coaster cars.

Sure it's alpha and it's fun making your own stuff, the whole trial and error thing is going to exist throughout Parkitect but providing the key information prior to starting that journey would be great.

Thoughts?

you can make the station longer or add block brakes in areas which will allow more cars. There isn't really a max cars, just as many as you allow for your ride to fit in so they wouldn't necessarily be able to add the information you want. Thye could add max height and such, but number of trains and length of cars is partly down to the user. I have a vertical drop coaster that can have 10 trains, though i only use 6. Other information like what the coaster buidler contains wouldn't be more troublesome to try and siplay in some meaningful way than someone just plopping a station and seeing visually

With a platform length of 6 I was unable to have more than 1 car and as previously mentioned unable to add additional trains so I'm a bit confused as to why I couldn't extend things there. It was a nice cashcow already.

Maybe it has something to do with my rather tight twists in the track or my set of brakes near the end to take me from killer speed to coasting speed over a few segments.

In addition I had issues trying to have multiple stations on a Monorail or a Railway Train. As transport type rides I was hoping to add a couple of stations but the system did not allow me to.

Strange Elcs. I managed to build transport rides with multiple stations and trains. Maybe your stations were too short? Also as mark said, use block brakes to create 'block sections'. Each section can hold an additional train, with the station length controlling the train length.

This is exactly how rides work in real life. You have your station block, a block mid course (which is high enough for a complete stop here and to then complete the circuit still) and a block after the ending brake section.

Some rides also feature a block before the lift hill and multiple blocks after the ending brakes. So multiple trains can wait whilst one is loading/unloading.

I managed to figure out the block breaks so managed to increase the number of trains, not cars per train, on that Vertical Coaster.

Yeah, I was building a monorail with 5 squares long platforms and it didn't like it. I'm going to give it a proper test on a clean map and do a simple square track, no elevation, and see how I go. I tried 3 square long railway trains but I ran into a landscape issue.

My next project is a matched, mirrored pair of small coasters with synchronised starts.... that's not going so well yet.

Ah yeah, you can't change the Vertical Drop Coaster train length no matter what, that's intentional. Its real life counterpart is the Gerstlauer Eurofighter, they only have these 2 car trains.

I need a tutorial video apparently, I never knew what the brakes did, still can't figure out how to use the extra stations (I thought you could have more then one entrance/queue but am only allowed to build one of each as far as I've seen). And the game never tells you what makes it so you can have more cars or more trains.

Yes I know it's EA and that tutorials are far down the line (since more stuff will be added and stuff will be changed) But maybe a Youtube tutorial for us that never played the Rollercoaster Tycoon games or that are too thick to learn? =)

Great game so far though, built a few parks and cursed a bit about the rollercoaster-building and janitors not doing their job unless I pick them up =p

Will also add some tooltips to the block brakes that explain their functionality, maybe that'll help :)

Brakes slow things down.

Block Breaks can slow things down and will allow multiple trains on a single loop roller coaster track. I recommend letting the visualisation run when building or use the test function before you end up killing people like most of my designs would lol.

Additional Stations, I always use them on transport types like the Railway Train or Monorail. I did encounter an issue where I couldn't seem to lay down multiple stations but a new park fixed that. What disappoints me is that peeps always seem to only travel to the next stop whereas if I got on a train then I'd travel either all the way around to view the sights or multiple stops to save my legs over long distances.

Guests use transport rides to reach certain locations in the park (they think about where they want to go then take a transport ride if that gets them there faster), or they just ride it for enjoyment. They don't just travel to the next station.

I'll take another look because every time I saw them embark/disembark they were getting on at Stop 1 and leaving at Stop 2.

I am kind of wishing for tracks that do not create tunnels when you adjust the angle on ground level. That would be a really nice finishing touch :steamhappy:

I really love the coaster builder so far, brings back memories:tlove:!
