Would you buy a Waterpark DLC?
I must admit I'm a little tired of drooling over the water slides in the old RollerCoaster Tycoon games.

I heard the devs don't want to do it because they don't want it to resemble RollerCoaster Tycoon. To that I say "you've already gone 90%; go all the way."

It would be fun building a waterpark

Yes.

Seems like the only option is to play RCT3. Steam does have a sale right now. I wouldn't buy a waterpark DLC. I never seen or heard of a waterpark in an amusement, not really the theme I'm in to. I'd rather have a resort DLC like Disney World where you can control hotels etc or a carnival/midway DLC area like most if not all theme parks. I think a waterpark would be better as a stand alone game.

Thanks, and I looked it up and it seems like there's a difference between amusement and theme parks and some could consider waterparks in a certain category based on the theme or something like that?

The point I was trying to make was that I personally never seen or heard of a place that has both a waterpark theme and a rollercoaster and other rides in one park. The only thing different I know of is when Six Flags bought the Marine World which I think was the same company as Sea World and added rides. I haven't found anything yet doing a quick online search with a waterpark inside a park that had rides.

I remember a long time ago when I was little there was or still is a park called Great America that I think is now owned my Six Flags, had an area to run around in and get completely soaked, but I think they got rid of that awhile back?

I know there're a lot of people who would like the waterpark idea, it's been brought up many times before I believe? I read something that someone said the developers said it was too much work and like creating a new game.

Too bad we can't create our own DLC

Ya, too bad. Looking forward to whatever new dlc comes out. I love this game

Maybe the workshop can help tie you over? If you haven't checked it out you can find new rides, scenery objects and new scenarios and prebuilt things.

You could build a fake waterpark with a certain mod there

Canada's Wonderland has a big waterpark section with water slides, a lazy river, wave pool, etc.

I buy every DLC if it has a campaign.

With the stuff already in the game I can do a pretty nice water section of my parks already so ... campaign it is for me :parksmiley:

Actually, there are quite a few parks that have both water park and amusement park elements. A good example of this is the theme park Dreamworld in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, which has it's sister park, the water park WhiteWater World right next to it. They're owned and operated by the same company, and buying a ticket to one of those parks is also a ticket to the other.

Also, most water parks don't just have water rides and vise versa. You'd be hard strapped to find a water park without just a couple of conventional flat rides, hell the water park near me (Adventure Park, Geelong, Victoria, Australia) even has a kiddie coaster! And a lot of theme parks and amusement parks have a couple of water based rides you'd usually find in a water park.

That is definitely different than anything I've seen so far. I've been to a couple waterparks and neither had any rollercoasters or thrill rides. They had water slides and a wave pool and endless/lazy river rides.

That's different than anything I've seen near me. I've only been to amusement parks that had water rides like log rides and wild river rapids rides. I actually just looked up the waterparks I been to in the past. One is called Raging Waters in San Jose California and they still seem not to have any coasters or thrill rides. The other place use to be called Water World in Concord California, that I just found out is now owned by Six Flags, and if someone doesn't know they own many amusement parks and bought and combined an animal parks into an amusement park in one...I thought after seeing that they would have added some kind of coasters or flat rides, but they haven't.
The devs have already said (so so many times) that a waterpark dlc is not coming. So you can"want it" as much as you want, but you're wasting your time.

I know it's not a true substitute for official animated water props and rides, but there is the Splashitect mod for nonfunctional waterslides, and Resortitect mod for pool props.

As the creator of Resortitect mod, I ask you: what non-animated props (so: nothing with water and no flatrides; they are hard to create) would you like to see added to enhance your fake waterparks?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

YES.

Anyway you could get the escalators useable by people like how you got them to lie down on the lounge chairs?
T010 Dec 5, 2020 @ 2:56am
The escalators are "usable" if you place them as cover over a sloped pathway. Peeps won't stand still (can't mod that) but they will walk up or down the stairs (as if in a hurry on an escalator irl).

Use the accompanying escalator Path Sign to block path access in the opposite direction of the escalator animation.
