How do you get janitors to clean the area?
I have 3 large zones in my park for my janitors, to each zone I've assigned 4 janitors -1 to sweep walkways, 1 to clean garbage cans, 1 to clean shops, and 1 to do whatever is needed where they are.

I have made sure that all walkways, trash cans, and shops are inside these zones -as are the staff rooms for them to take breaks and depots/garbage chutes for dropping off the trash.

However, the janitors don't seem to want to do anything unless they are either recently hired, or I drop them next to something to do myself -I literally just watched a janitor for zone 6 who was assigned to "empty trash bins" walk out of the break room and right past a completely full trash bin without doing anything... I had to pick him up and drop him next to the trash bin before he cleaned it.

Another janitor -also just saw him- was assigned to clean walkways. He was walking toward a completely trashed area of a food court, then took a detour around it and walked out without cleaning it -I again had to pick him up and drop him in the dirty area before he started cleaning the floors.

Most of my other janitors seem to be the same -they either bypass areas needing cleaning, or they just make little oval paths in areas that don't need cleaning.

Is there a trick to getting janitors to do their job?

I do not have any of those issues with my janitors. They work as they are inteded to for few hundred hours I play this game.

So my guess is, there is something on your end hampering it.

I haven't indeed EVER set a janitor to only do a single dedicated task, they are always generalists in my parks. Maybe that setting is faulty...

So my suggestion, maybe you set them to be generalists again and check what happens (allowing them some time to adjust)?
