Charge for park entrance and rides at the same time?
In RCT if you charge for your park entrance you can't charge for rides, and vice versa. In this game I see you can technically charge both at once, but is there some sort of penalty if you do this? Or should I be charging my guests an entrance fee as well as charge for each ride?

I think guests expect to pay less for rides when they pay an entrance fee already. But I'm not sure of the details. I usually charge for both as much as possible within a reasonable limit.

From the tutorial, guests will have less money for activities if there is an entrance fee. The RNG is certainly how much each person has in their wallets when they arrive, but I am unsure if entrance fee affects mood.

I have started scenarios with more rides and more exciting parks and I can charge more and more for the entrance as well. So you can higher both, it's just that the park entrance is for your overall park quality while each ride is for that said ride.

I usually set entrance fee like this - $1 for every thrill ride and coaster, $0.5 for every calm ride. So each time I add a ride, the entrance fee goes up. But I also keep checking the guest thoughts to make sure no one's complaining. Sometimes the guest demographics is such that they're not willing to pay high fes to enter the park, other times they will. So it's a matter of trial and error how much you can charge.

I remember in one park, I was charging $6 (according to my formula) and there were about 15 guests who refused to pay and enter. Once I changed to $4, they all came in! Most often though, guests will comaplin about prices and just leave.

How much do you charge for your rides?

i have made a senario for myself with just normal settings. I can choose whether I let the guests pay entrance or attraction tickets. at the begining i choose for attraction tickets so i got more money for more rides and scenery. when i got around 800 guest in my park i tryed to only let them pay for entree of the park and food. And it workd for a while. i got about 30.000 dollars when i started i closed the park let them all out. and then i opend it with a entree fee of 80 dollars.
When my park was full again i got about 94.000 dollars. off corse you will lose money in the beginning when you just opend the park in the few months. a few months later people get tired and go home. when this happens, you can keep your money stable for a reasonably long time.
if you find yourself losing money or want more. then you close your park and open it again. and let the dollars flow in.

this was my way of finding out it can work to only charghe entree fee and let people pay for food.
and i find out that a normal entree fee is around 80 dollars. higer and the guest that come cant get in becauce they have to less money.

I am now in a state that I have 1700 people in my park
money stays stable for a while and than i lose money slowly. when it gets to low i quicly close and open the park and let the money role in
about 136.000 dollars :D

tip: if you close the park and want no people left in it. close all your rides.
you will pay less for rides when they are closed

good luck with your park. :D

What RCT are you referring to? In the original RCT games (1 & 2) there's nothing keeping you from charging for both entrance and tickets, at least if your park is popular enough.

I haven't checked this recently but I got the first game for win95 so I'd be surprised if I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure that's only a feature in OpenRCT2, in normal RCT1 you could only charge for one or the either, which was decided in the scenario settings.

I thought my previous comment kind of impled that I got the facts straight. I have probably 1000+ hours of playtime in this game.

However, since I don't want to be an asshat arguing for something that is incorrect, I did a fresh install to verify. Screenshot[dank.studio] in glorious 640x480 default res.

In RCT2 you could only charge for one of the two. In RCT1 you were free to charge whatever you like.

Sounds like the most likely answer. And they do look very much alike.
