Improvements to Terraforming Tools?
Hey all,

Just picked up the game a few days ago and enjoying it so far. The only thing that's been difficult for me is the terraforming tools. The terraformer itself was really unintuitive; raising and lowering terrain by "pinching" specific sections and having to individually raise and lower them via moving the mouse up and down seems so much more tedious and error-prone than just having a "click to raise, right click to lower, drag to increase area raised/lowered" tool like in, e.g., Cities Skylines.

The water tool feels like it's going to give me a seizure because it will just automatically preview water filling whatever space your mouse is hovering over; if you click the tool and then move your mouse across the screen to the pool you want to fill, you're liable to hover over one or two sections of "normal" space and cause the entire screen to flash bright blue as the tool thinks you want to flood your whole park.

What bothers me the most about the terrraforming though is that BOTH raising AND lowering cost you money, instead of one refunding you. This way, if you make a mistake terraforming, which is super easy to do because of how fragile the tools are, you're doubly punished for it. This seems really not in the spirit of the game.

Am I missing something? Does anyone know if there are improvements planned for these tools? Otherwise enjoying the management aspects of the game, but maybe just won't be using terraforming for the near future..

If I had any complaints about the game (I'm also fairly new to it), it would be with the terraforming tool.

I would love to see a change made (as you mentioned) so that a left click raises and right click lowers. That would be a huge help.

In addition, I don't like that when I raise or lower terrain it includes such a large area the higher, or lower I go. I would like to create mountain peaks that rise higher than the rest of the mountain, but that's not possible with the current tool. I can do it, but then all the tiles connected also raise. I would LOVE to have the option of being able to do a "sharp" raise/lower rather than just the default uniform tool. I know that I can raise/lower single tiles (or even quarter tiles), but when joining those tiles to the already raised/lowered tile it still defaults back to what it would have done if I had just used the unifrom raise/lower tool. In other words, it's impossible to make mountain peaks or cliffs (without showing the underlying layers. RCT's tool gave the ability to change the look of the exposed underground, which would also be a nice addition, ratehr than it just defaulting to the underground layers.

Finally, can we have the ability to make waterfalls? When I try to do it not it just floods the map. It would be nice to have a RCT type option to click on two seperate areas of water (that are on different levels) and have the waterfall effect.

I love the game, its just that the terraforming tool needs some attention.

Ah yeah, I suppose that's another benefit of the "click to raise" method. I guess I can't tell whether the game is still being updated after launch but hopefully they'll spend a bit of attention on this.

because of the small dev team, i think many features are looked at in this sense. How many people will use it Vs. how long will it take us to implement and bug test so QOL is 99%? would it be great to have better terraforming? definitely. cant really make Matterhorn mountain like replicas. but also if you havent, Load the park Northern Highlands, and maybe you can understand the ability for creativity a little better. still super hard to use in many ways, i can relate, but still quite possible to make a ravine and other features.

i think i read somewhere the dev team is more or less 2 people.

The current tool is definitely useful and serves it's intended purpose, however, I'd love to be able to get a little more out of it. It looks like they are continuing to work on updates, so hopefully this will eventually be one of the things they take a look at.

Once you understand the calculations the tool uses for raising and lowering it's not difficult to create solid hills/ravines, etc. I guess I'm just wanting a little more from the tool (I've been working on something along the lines of Disney's Expedition Everest). While I can certainly work with what the tool does, it would be awesome to have the ability to fine tune it just a bit more.
