Game Location: "~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common"
Saves Location: "~/Library/RenPy"
If you're not familiar with terminal, take those paths and in the Finder menu, choose "Go -> Go to Folder...". Paste the above into the box that comes up and it'll open a Finder window to the right location.
The patch is supposed to do that by default, but we've had reports of it not working for some users.
I did that. By the way, I noticed 2 files. Lenny.rpy and Lenny.rpyc. The 2nd file is not ASCII but something else...
And just a sidenote "true" as mentioned is not valid - instead it gives the game a nice and shiny error screen while starting.
While running game code:
File "game/lenny.rpy", line 2, in <module>
$ persistent.lenny = true
NameError: name 'true' is not defined
"True" on the other hand let it at least start but the Achievement didn't pop up for me. I did since then a full "auto / skip" rerun of the full game ... still nothing so far. Check file integrity of the game... All fine... It's a bit of a bummer such a "small detail" is the last remaining open Achievement for me.
//edit
Nevermind.. Solved it with the solution mentioned above in the first post, delete all savegames, and cloud saves, deleted the game, installed it anew and place the "specific" file back where it belongs.
Start up and "ping".. Tadah.. thanks again..
And now I'm finally happy and keep the lenny face smiling..
If you're on Windows (Should work for 2000, XP, and all newer):
- Open Windows Explorer
- On the location bar, type: "%APPDATA%\RenPy"
- Delete any folder starting with "Highway Blossoms"
If you're on OS X:
- Go to Finder
- From the top menu bar, choose "Go -> Go to Folder..."
- Type in "~/Library/RenPy"
- Delete any folder starting with "Highway Blossoms"
If you're on Linux:
Obviously, too many tools to cover, but go to "~/.renpy" using what tool you feel most comfortable with. Delete any folder starting with "Highway Blossoms".
I’ve played through the game once, having set the text speed to a low value for a bunch of messages somewhere along the road. Nothing at the end, just the other [story-related] achievements.
I’ve then noticed that “Speed Lover” didn’t unlock either, so I deleted my save files as described here. “Speed Lover” unlocked fine afterwards. “Slow and Steady” did not, even after several tries [i.e. run-throughs skipping all the messages].
My last hope was that it would unlock after restarting the game [i.e. ending the process and running the game again], as was the case with the “Special Eyes” achievement which popped out of nowhere one day, but nope. Still nothing.
Hell, I even tried without the adult-content patch. No change.
So… any reliable way to unlock “Slow and Steady”?
1. deactivate Steam Cloud
2. export / delete your savegame
3. verify game cache files
4. the extras menu should still be open, otherwise you can of course use skip all for a full walkthrough
5. set the Speed below 10 characters per second
it should unlock just by setting it to this speed, otherwise make another new game...
The important bit is in the first post:
So, yeah. Try opening the CG Gallery, if “Slow and Steady” won’t unlock.
First of all, you can't just idle. The goal is to play the game in "real time". If you aren't there to move the plot forward when the next segment would happen, it's basically paused.
Also, if you're gonna avoid games like this, then you're missing out. Play the novel for the story and wonderful art, not to crow "I got an achievement!" that means absolutely nothing and don't affect your status in any way.
People play games for different reasons and with different goals. Personally, I like to 100% my games (no matter if it's a VN or a platformer or whatever) so I get annoyed whenever devs put in impossible or troll achievements. Many people won't care about this achievement and that's fine, but it's just a slap in the face for anyone who actually enjoys achievement hunting.
So, I really don't get why these troll achievements have to exist. Casual players won't care about them, achievement hunters will rightfully feel trolled and annoyed (especially if they bought the regular version before and 100%ed it earlier). Nobody wins, some people lose. And all that for a stupid Desert Bus reference that most people won't get. Was it worth it, devs?
I've left a negative review and other people who care about achievements will undoubtedly do the same. I feel it's right to warn other players that one achievement is basically impossible to complete unless you like wasting time and play by the devs' stupid rules.
