duplex jig vs gravel pump
i made the switch from the jigs to the pumps and it feels like im getting less gold now

before i was making consistent 250- 300 oz per full fill of the plant at the stage im at now with the jigs , now im only getting 115 - 120 oz per fill with the pumps, am i missing something or are the pumps not working as good as the jigs? ( i am still mining the same dirt roughly )

Each machine has a specific efficiency and the more expensive replacements simply have a higher one, making them extract more gold from the same load of dirt.

Though definitely make sure that the buckets are actually attached to the machine. I've seen some cases where they detach from the machine when partially filled after reloading the game and not wanting to attach again unless they were empty.

And this specific part of the washplant definitely doesn't make more than 50 % of the gold, so there must be something else. As for the dirt make sure to not only look at the overview, but also at the layers you're digging into. Sometimes you've to dig through a significant portion of dirt with barely any gold in it to get to the more valuable dirt. It makes sense to put this dirt to the side to not waste too much time with it at the washplant.
See if you can test which one is best on your own. I used five full dump trucks, saved a separate save, ran pay dirt through with the jigs, note everything. then run with gravel pumps. Compare data let us know what you find out using the same loads of pay dirt as your known control.
