Why mini-equipment?

For years, we kept asking for bigger equipment, and other ways to improve. I did stop playing this 3 seasons ago. But I must be missing something obvious here.

Why would we get mini-equipment we will grow out of in an hour? Typically, when I started a new season, of course I would start out with the pan, etc. Since official seasons had gold nuggets turned on, get enough to be able to afford a rental on the drill, then drill the entire property. By the time I was done drilling, I normally had enough for tier 3, and start of tier 4.

Even if I didn't do the drilling, the small wash plant is cheap. small excavator is cheap enough. Unless they have completely changed the entire game to make mini-equipment worth it, I am just really struggling with the "why would you" practical aspect of this.

mini equipment is a in between tier 1 and 2 and is currently being balanced so it fits well. will make games without nuggets less boring to play too. Another DLC with bigger equipment is planned for next semester though
