Help needed for gold map reading

so I have only played up to T2 and got myself my big excavator etc, and decided instead of random digging I paid for the 10 drill locations. The report came back but then I realised, the gold map looks nothing like the map I am working on, none of Old Arnold's parcels looks anything like the gold map.

Either I am looking at it wrong or something is amiss here.

I get that bit, but can't marry up where on the normal map them spots look to be.

Click on the toggle square button. That will highlight that square when you exit map. That might help you a bit.

This helped a lot, does using the drilling machine also fill out the grid or only the paid drills?

Using the drill does it as well. You can drill the entire claim.
