Why upgrade wash plant
I've only been playing a couple of weeks so this is likely a dumb question but I have the big escavator and mobile wash plant parked right next to it. I just leave the wash plant on while I'm scooping and I can't keep up with how quickly it proceses the dirt. Why would I upgrade to a bigger wash plant if I can't scoop more than this one can process. The only reason I can think of is if the next tier wash plants extract more gold or I'm missing something on how to move more dirt.

Each tier upgrade increases the amount of gold you capture from each scoop of pay dirt you put in it.

The Mobile Wash Plant (Tier 2) only captures a small percentage of the gold in the dirt.

The Tier 3 wash plant captures more gold from the pay dirt.

Tier 5 captures the maximum amount of gold from the pay dirt.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks!

Definitely better to upgrade when you can afford it. You do end up making a hell of alot more gold than tier 2 setup. Also best to get the dump truck and conveyor belt setup with the tier 3 wash plant makes things so much faster and easier

Also with wash plant workers you will gain performance. Which I am thinking more gold for the pay dirt you run thru. With 9 workers at 100% exp, it totals up to 48% with a 4.5% bonus.
So with out workers your plant is only getting half of the gold in the pay dirt you are putting thru.

Conveyor Belt Hopper 7%
Conveyor Belt 7%
Shaker/ Glacier 20%
ST-Sluice 3 buckets/ clean out
Trommel 10%
T-DJ Sluice 2% + full matts swap
T-DJ Sluice 2% + full matts swap
Duplex/Pumps 2 buckets swap
Duplex/Pumps 2 buckets swap
plus 9 worker bonus 4.5%

Also each Hog Pan Container worker gives a 25% bonus to the HP.

These are on Tier 3, 4, 5.

( Data from the Workers Tab in Tent tablet)

What are these two please?
Conveyor Belt Hooper 7%
Conveyor Belt 7%

I don't understand that one since they don't have buckets or mats?

Thanks!

Sorry, those are the two machines that you dump into, Hopper container, and bucket conveyor that loads into the shaker, on T3, T4, T5. Check your Journal..

It's just how much faster they run. My understanding was that ALL performance boosts from workers are just processing speed - not the amount of gold obtained from a given amount of paydirt. But I'm going to test that to see for myself once and for all (hey, maybe I've been wrong about the new worker system all this time.)

I don't think that is correct dogwalker. The boost applies to gold yield.

There was a discussion on here a year ago and I think one of the mods weighed in on it.

I must have missed that discussion. I just did a controlled test, and I stand corrected!

I ran the same 3 dumptrucks of dirt (from savepoint) through the washplant twice, once with a greenhorn crew manning all components and once without. The run with crew yielded almost 12% more gold.

Now, did that pay for the crew's wages? Well no, but then this was not a full-day's run, they are greenhorns, and not all yield performance perks, so... by just hiring shaker and trommel personnel and training them up it definitely would be profitable for me.

I guess I got off-track from the original assertion when they revised the worker system that workers no longer earn gold, they just give performance and reliability perks. Some clarity was lacking there I think.

Anyhow thank you guys for inspiring me to check this out for myself, I really didn't think anyone but the mechanic was a financially sound expense before...

Ok, so are you saying that by simply having the conveyor and the hopper you're adding an additional 14% in gold or do they need to be manned as well?

They conveyor and hopper will speed up the amount of dirt you can run in a day provided you have the dump truck to feed it.

If you have employees working the conveyor and hopper they will increase the gold yield in your system.

awesome, tyvm :)

The conveyor and hopper do not directly extract the gold from the dirt; they simply load it into the shaker. Therefore it seemed illogical to me that assigning workers to them should increase the gold yield from the dirt... So I did the test again - same 3 truckloads - with workers only on the conveyor and hopper this time. Lo and behold, more gold than without workers, so they do increase yield (scratches head).

Fine, but I have to wonder what the premise for that is... Gettin' that same ol' hopper and conveyor a hoppin' an' conveyin' better dun git us more gold outta the same dirt! But WHY boss?
Storm Jan 8, 2020 @ 5:10am
hahaha, I think it could be seen as a case of "not messing" so much?

It makes sense from the "games" perspective even if not from "real life" perspective.

Thanks for the tests though, appreciate it.

Thanks Guys for testing these things out and not just going by what a player says.

SO because the workers do add to the ability to get more gold from your pay dirt, I am therefore saying that any T3, T4, or T5 without workers are only yielding gold at about 40 to 50%.

That really makes a difference.....
