10 days till winter
Winter is coming. What happens during winter? Do I have to have my stuff in storage before this day? Or do I get a couple days to move it to storage when winter hits? At what point in time do I have to go to the hotel? Do I just go there and a popup says start winter break? What stuff needs to be in the shed? cables? parts? generators? trailers? Vehicles, or do vehicles need to get transported back to the storage yard? What if I had a T3 washplant setup, does that need to be taken down and put into storage?

You need to have things in storage before permafrost,

Any thing that can be them repaired minus the pickup need to be stored
I hit winter yesterday left my sluice boxes in t3 and the hogpans but set the jigs trommel and shaker to storages as well as the big fuel tank and big generator

Anything stored in the green building will be fine but things stored in the little tent won't

I left spare parts in the order section and they broke too so put tgem in you green building

I left all wires and hoses out and the were fine

Fur clarity I just transporter the machines and t3 parts I removed back to storage space at using the move machines tablet/machine shop option

Thanks. When you say before permafrost. does that mean there is another stage past winter. or is winter permafrost?

Yes when you get to winter the ground become harder and says 7 days till permafrost where no digging can occur, in winter you can dig but you may need to rip ground before, I personally made enough money to pay my workers for the winter and went to the hotel and waited for it all to blow over

i dont believe stuff breaks till you go to/are forced to go to the hotel, and when you rest is when the collossal breaking will happen unless stored

I just finished upgrading my tier 3 to tier 5 in normal mode on Old Arnold and about to enter Autum. Putting all the washplant and clean up equipment in storage then rebuilding it sounds...annoying at best. And with bugs reported about not getting the outline to place washplant pieces I think the best option is to turn off damage the last day before permafrost and then back on in the Spring.

Most of the time I like the more 'difficult' aspects of games that require planning. However in this case there is too much room for a ruined save. Just the other day I had to revert to an old save, which was lucky I had, because something I bumped with my large excavator sent it flying in pieces all around the world. I watched the game try and reconstruct it under the map, over the map, inside buildings only to end up in an infinite loop trying to find all the movable game pieces of the excavator from all corners of it's little virtual universe. It didn't even show up anywhere on the map.

Lol yes i think I will do that. I just started playing again since a year ago and had to catch up with all the new things and like you say I like the plannig aspect things but I'm not looking forward to tear everything down again when permafrost comes :P

You should read the patch notes in the announcement section.
Edit: https://steamcommunity.com/app/451340/allnews/

With the new water system you can buy a water trailer, fil it with water (at the tower in city or with a pump feeded from the river). The water trailer has a pump (outlet only) which can feed your equipment.

Because many things have changed it's a good time to start over but you can also use your old save.

I plan on leaving my T5 out intact. I have fully upgraded workers on all equipment and six upgraded Mechanics and I never have a part break down since they were all in place. So, i'm going to create a save before Permafrost then see how long it takes come Spring for it all to get repaired. I'm expecting it all to be repaired before the start of the second day when the ground has thawed enough to work.
