I'm assuming most people here keep up with the TV show.

Any body else rooting for Rick Ness this year? I'd love to see him do well on his first year as a mine boss.

I'd also love to see Tony finally get that second dredge running too. The crazy eccentric bastard :steamhappy:

The show is not necessarily scripted but it is for sure more dramatized that gold mining in Yukon actually is.
Also they do mine the way they do on the show obviously but they make some seriously dumb mistakes. EG. Slucifer (Parker plant) is poorly designed as whenever they have to do bearing etc parts of the plant have to be cut open and re welded.

Source: Im a foreman in gold mine in yukon and have met lots of people that work for the guys on the show.

And they may have parts in their contracts where saying something negative about the show is forbidden. Some ex members of the show said some scenes were scripted, see German Wikipedia (you can paste it into your favourite translator):
(„It truly is not the way I remember it, and it distorts my memories … I get mad, because it’s different from what I remember.“)[37]

And come on, you have to be VERY STUPID to buy a claim next to your biggest opponent and have to take your stuff and water over the claim from the opponent (see Parker's new claim). This can only be scripted to dramatize the show.

No, you will be flabbergasted at the amount of people that actually think they all read from a script.

All Reality shows are scripted, anyway. Producers would provoking or encouraging or pushing in order to get some drama. Drama is what attract viewers.

Buying the claim next to Tony's wasn't a bad idea. What the show doesn't show you is the fact it also backs onto another claim of probably the biggest mining operation out there. The owner likes parker and would of given him water access easily.
I would be pretty confident saying that the show wanted the drama so that's why it played out like that.

An other spin-off (like GR White Water) wil be aired at 5th April (US, Discovery Channel):
Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine

For Middle Europeans (especially DE-AT-CH) you can keep your eye on it here (no release date yet, but you see the first release dates for the original US release): https://www.fernsehserien.de/gold-rush-dave-turins-lost-mine
(Remember, dates are in DD.MM.YYYY and not the english MM.DD.YYYY)

This may be true, Or that water source was to far away for Parker to pump it?
I would think Parker wouldn't let the show interfere with his operation but i could be wrong.

I watched the episodes they are airing on Discovery Go.

**SPOILERS BELOW**

I was surprised he ended up with that new guy from Gold Rush: White Water in the final episode. I'm suspicious but curious what the story is there. Did Dave Turin find him first and then recommend him to Dustin on White Water?

loving parkers trail. dave turins also. but parker has a bit of an edge. always nice to see people travel and push their limits. being that young (and with his bankroll) i'd expect him to be living it up on some beach somewhere. nice to see him want to go and see the real world.

****spoilers below****

if i owned that mine place i wouldnt want camera crews around. what parker said is true - it's sad to see the local people going without, kids jumping fences and being shot at for $15 just to feed themselves, crazy world we live in. if the mine bosses wanted to they could sort that mess out, i bet they do nothing for the people the other side of the fence.. not 1 school or any investment in healthcare etc.

rick did ok, i knew he would. dave turin also i just wish they would have let him mine the other side sooner. he did the hard work now the cattle rancher family know they are onto a good thing, not like they didnt anyway ;) i just hope hes able to get some decent ground next year.

edit: did i hear some music from the game in an episode? or is the game using music from the show? also that hogpan set up that parker got for the village looks very similar to the setup from ingame. even down to the blue hoses :) very odd they found them in that miners shop shed setup.

and then he started pulling hairs outa people noses, shows how young he is. id be pissed off if people were running big plant over my land and in front of where some of my family live too.

young and wild. the reality is where would he be otherwise. tony gave him good land to mine, prolly not the best he has but it got him to where he is now.

Of course they dont want to let camera's into the Porgera mine. The decission makers that are working there are making pretty good bank. Would you risk such a nice paycheck for a few minutes of fame on tv? expecially knowing that any TV time is probably not going to look to favorably for you.

And as bad as the mine operation looks in the show, It looks like the deal they made with the government was pretty normal for the area and the time 5%. it only looks bad once you realize the mine operators have pulled billions out of it. And given very little back. But can you blame them? Its a corperation made to make money. Not one to make the world a better place.

Not really, it would be "UK-based film crew is searching for filming something special". But you are already a gold miner then and don't come from Oregon without any knowledges.
