Getting to Tier 3
Getting to Tier 3 seems really crazy, the costs of the stuff are mostly near 100k or over, like the big excavator, and so forth. Is there anyway to get better efficiency or time use out of the tier 1 stuff? I'm rocking the small excavator, mobile wash plant, mobile gas tank, and basic pump and generator to run the stuff. I process with the magnetite extractor and the wave table, for what tiny bit of magnetite I seem to get. Any tips would be welcome.

Maybe adding the workers that cover the equipment you have. They will give 'bonuses' for the various equipment.

Are there workers for the small excavator or mobile wash plant? I have not wasted $10k unlocking employees as they seemed not worth it.

I'm in the same boat (mobile wash, small excavator, etc...) on hard mode just starting my first fall/autumn.

Took me all summer to even get the Magnetite Trailer so I'd have another source of revenue.

I think my next logical purchase is the large excavator, but at $144k that's like... maybe affordable some time next fall, and then it's saving up for T3 which seems like it's going to run ~$500k last time I priced it. derp derp.

I'm skeptical that burning $10k to unlock workers and then paying wages is going to be worth having a guy just swap my mobile wash plant bucket out for me.

Grimm, you might want to make sure you've completed all of the stories available to you. That will reduce the cost of your fuel and repair items by 14%.

Buy new stuff on the last day before permafrost, way way way cheaper then (for hardmode, big ex is 60k cheaper compared to summer). Dont sell more gold then u have to to keep your operation going, goldprices are better during winter. Save magnetite for blacksmith upgrades, its a grind to get enough from t2 but wirth it (first waste upgrade gets u 1 oz more per 20 oz melted and first price upgrade lowers by roughly 500 bucks per 20), turn of any equipment not needed, saves parts and fuel and turn off all your machines even if youre leaving them for only one min. Drive like a 90 year old grandma with your pickup, tiers are expensive xD
Im currently doing t2 hardmode and just about to get t3, its a rough long grind but doable :)

Speaking of magnetite, it never shows up in my little inventory in the top right, despite there being a space for it. And I cannot tell how much I have in the magnetite trailer, it's just a percentage. How do I tell if I have enough for the blacksmith, and how can I give it to him if it's in the trailer?

Grimm, you need the magnetite trailer. Then you dump the dirt from your mag table into the magnetite trailer. Dump the trailer on the grating in the Industrial park. THEN the magnetite is added to your upper right tally and you can spend it.

spitalen88, than you for the heads up about seasonal price fluxuations. Positively valuable information.

I assume there is no mining in the winter? You just get sent to the Hotel?

Oh I see, I thought dumping it there sells it, I guess it just gets processed that way. Thanks!

So how else do the seasons impact? I assume permafrost means no digging?

U can mine during winter, but u need to rip the dirt with the dozer first, so until u got the dozer no mining. Permafrost comes after winter and ur forced to hotel, and any wquipment thats left outside the garage has evry breakable part broken (pickup is safe in the hotel parking). And in m experience the best days to sell/shop is the last two days before permafrost :)

So if I move all my equipment inside that green garage/warehouse building at the parcel it's safe from permafrost?

if you don't have a dozer what can you do during winter?

That is what the Hotel is for. It 'fast-forwards' you through winter.

Hire workers on 2 mobile washing machine to swap buckets automatically so you can continue digging with excavator. Place this 2 mobile washing machine near each others so that you can fill they without having to move excavator too often.
