Moving it would be more painful. If you are looking for a simple answer, download / install steam, login and download / install the game on your desktop.

If you have your settings to save the saves to the cloud you will have them on the desktop. You have to make sure you let the saves load up to the cloud after you exit the game so don't just close the laptop when you exit the game.

Click on Steam -> Backup and Restore Games

Steam will save the game files so that you do not have to download the game again. If you have a usb stick with 16gb or more you can backup your files. To save your save files if you do not have enabled steam cloud for this game open window's start menu and enter "%appdata%" in the search box. This will directly open the path to the AppData folders where you can find the save files from the game. The save file is located at AppData/locallow/CodeHorizon.

i'll give it a shot... thanks for your help... i'll let you know if it works. again thanks
Aslong as you have steam cloud enabled your saves and stuff should just transfer over automatically, ive loaded the game on another computer and everything was as i left it on this one.

Moving game to another PC:
Copy folder "X:\Steam_Games\steamapps\common\Gold Rush The Game" and "appmanifest_451340.acf" (X:\Steam_Games\steamapps) to Stick / external harddrive, then the folder "C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\LocalLow\CodeHorizon" (your game saves and settings except keybinding). Export the folder "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CodeHorizon\GoldRushTheGame" from the registry for the keybindings.

Now you can move the game to another computer without downloading it again.

You can just use the steam backup feature. No need to backup registry and so on. Steam is saving everything that is needed to run this game, even if it's dx9 setup or MS visual C++.

How old is the computer? 10 years?

Look at the shop page and you see the sytem requirements...
Minimum:
Betriebssystem: Windows 7 (64-bit) or Newer

I doubt the game would even be playable on a 10 year old laptop. You can take a look at the system requirements on the steam store page.
