Also... are you selling your gold at the right place...? Game does repeatedly mention that selling raw gold to blacksmith is an absolutely terrible idea and you should only do it when you got no choice, meaning you already have a loan and you are in the negative.
Yes I'm not just selling it raw at BS, but smelting it into bars and selling the bars at the bank.
I've only made about 12k money so far and dug up half of the pit next to the creek. My patience is wearing thin with this game by now.
Your comment makes it sound like this is a normal thing.... so I am quite confused why there wouldn't be any way for me to progress into Tier2 slightly easier. I probably can't even reach the 23k tutorial requirement by hand digging up the whole first trench.... lol. And I don't want to do that anyway because it's taking FAR too long and is boring as hell.
On side note, did you refuse nuggets? Because if you did... it will be grueling and very hard. Depending on difficulty and disabling nuggets you are basically forced into taking loans and dealing with that, that's why that mechanic is there. On hard difficulty loans is how you upgrade your equipment, you start the game with 0, you can't even get any equipment to do anything until you get a loan, at least I don't think you can directly throw dirt into pan from shovel you'd need at least a bucket. If you didn't refuse nugget or disabled that option you are sort of flooded with a lot of gold at first. In metric it will basically throw nuggets at you non-stop until you are at about 1 kilogram of mined gold then it will go back to it's normal nugget drop rate which is kind of rare. 500 grams should be worth around 21-22k, during nugget rush it should get you very quickly to 23k.
Personally I also advise against bothering with tutorial, it's so broken it's not even funny and the fact that it blocks use of certain objects to force you to do some steps kind of means that it's pretty easy to just get stuck. If it wants you to buy X but you just went and bought Y you now need more gold to get cash... but some steps prevent bucket use so you effectively can't actually get more gold. More importantly it's just buggy as all hell, you can turn it off at any time if it bugs out tho so it's not like you need to restart just be aware that tutorial is wonky.
In short, if you have nuggets enabled it shouldn't take more then a few hours to be able to afford mobile wash plant and a small excavator.
