Gotcha, so just rotating physically a bunch in RL isn't pleasant for you. That makes a bit more sense relative to your review (for a moment I thought you might be say... running at a low framerate or something).
A quick question or two: For your form of locomotion do you prefer for linear traveral?
- Instantaneous Teleport
- Dash (like teleport but you experience the movement to the point a bit)
- Smooth Locomotion (using a stick or touchpad to slide)
For the Vive, the control options are a little more limited for turning, due to the controllers having one fewer button per controller than the Rift/Index/WMR.
If you enjoy Smooth locomotion, I would set your Movement Mode to 'Single Joystick/Touchpad', and go into the Options Panel, go to Movement Options, then Smooth Locomotion Advanced Options.
Set 'Lateral Axis' to Snapturn. (this will replace strafing, though you can still 'strafe' by pointing the controller to the side, and pressing forward/backward on the touchpad, as the Default in H3 is that movement is relative to the controller. Note you will have to toggle on movement on the controller you want to use for movement, by pressing the menu button (a little arrow indicator spawns below the controller when this is active).
If you prefer teleport, there is a 'RoboRecall Teleport' style, that has you click forward on the touchpad, hold, then drag your thumb left/right around the touchpad to pick your new orientation. It's not the best at stationary reorientation though...
Honestly, you're the first person (in a decade of doing VR dev) that I've ever encountered saying they have discomfort simply physically turning a lot. I'd like to do what I can to accommodate you though.
Outside of that, the only other VR game I play is BeatSaber which is stationary.
Also, as an added note, I didn't experience any performance issues in the game, so it seemed to be running just fine.
For twinstick, the thing to be aware of is that you still need to 'toggle' the controllers in/out of locomotion mode (to be able to access weapon function). You can change the snap turn increment (default 45 degrees) to what you'd prefer, change your desired speed, as well as tweak how sprinting/jumping work.
If there's anything else I can help you with in regards to the game/controls/locomotion?
