Debating on getting back into VR. What headset should i be looking at To play this and other old VR games?
Hi all. I had an HTC Vive back a few years ago and i put 1000 hours on it in Steam. I loved playing H3VR and a few other other VR titles and i want to get back in. All i hear about these days is the quest 3 and such. But i am not sure what to get to be able to play H3VR like i used to with my old HTC Vive.

If it helps the other games i Enjoy are Gorn, Blade and Sorcery, and Pavlov. I also now have a fairly beefy PC so I can easily run VR games if that matters.

Do i get another used HTC Vive? Vive 2 pro? Rift? Quest 3?

If you want your money's worth and you're looking to just play games, a Quest 3 ($499.99 as of writing) is honestly a pretty good option. The controllers feel better than Vive wands, you can play wirelessly with Steam Link, and the tracking is really solid. You can still play wired using a Link Cable ($79.99 as of writing) that's not included with any of the Meta Quest lineups.

PSVR2 ($349.99 as of writing) I hear is a pretty good headset and it's way cheaper than most modern HMDs, though it requires an adapter ($59.99 as of writing) and proprietary software to use. It's pretty good when compared to Meta's HMDs when it comes to visuals, tracking and controllers, though it's not standalone so it's required to be hooked up to your PC to use.

If you want lighthouse tracking, an Index isn't bad, but it's comparatively outdated and expensive compared to other headsets in terms of visual clarity. I personally haven't used any Vive HMDs, but I recommend the Vive Pro 2 ($799.99 as of writing) and a pair of Index Controllers to go with it, as I've heard that's a pretty good combo nowadays. It has a much higher resolution than the Index with less screen-door effect and god-rays. You can also use the Vive Wireless adapter for it if you fancy having a wireless connection and support for Vive Trackers if you'd like to use full body tracking in games that support it. While using trackers is possible with the previously mentioned headsets, it takes extra setup, additional software, and requires purchasing base stations.

Definitely read/ watch reviews before deciding since there's plenty of good headsets in the market. Go with what you believe is best suited for your use cases and your budget.
