Objects stutter or jittery with quest 2 controller
The stutter or jittery only happens when holding an object. Just the controller itself when moving around has NO stutter. I've posted on other forums and have gotten no reply. If you counter the same problem or have a solution please leave a comment. Thank you.

Do they jitter when you shoot? Do you have the vibrations disabled?

Otherwise what are your specs?
Hi Simon, I think we may be encountering the same issue. Can you check the video I have linked in my bug report and let me know if it's the same as what you're experiencing? Thanks.

Hi It has nothing to do with vibration, just by holding any objects, the stutter will appear. Exactly the same as Joecalone's video.

Yes I'm experiencing the same.

Both of you experiencing this, are you running at 72hz or 90hz? If the former, does you running the game at 90hz make this go away?

I'm on a Rift S so I'm locked to 80Hz with no option to change the refresh rate.

I'm running at 90hz. I've also tried running it on 80 and 72hz, but still has the stutter.

I recorded a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLKChnv-8V4
One thing weird is that it doesn't show much stutter on the video, butt really bad at the headset. I used to own a valve index with the same pc and same config and it's buttery smooth on it. Might be something to do with oculus ASW or software conflicting with Steamvr tho, since it's not the only game I've played has this stutter. And some games runs smooth on quest 2 too. Thanks anyway.

@Simon: What method are you playing with your Quest 2: Link or VD?

I play with both. Both are the same.

Looking at the video, I barely see perceptible stutter. Do note that a little bit IS normal, in that all held objects are being velocity manipulated into place. They are following a target that they never fully reach, and Unity's frame times are not actually homogenous (in the older version of Unity I use).

As for it feeling like its stuttering in headset more than on screen, that I have noooo idea about. If there's some exotic interaction between Oculus software and SteamVR, I haven't a clue what that could be, or how to do anything about it.

On a lark, juuuuuuuust in case its something stupid like this:

1. does the app have cursor focus
2. in nvidia control panel, have you set VSync for the app to be forced -off-?
3. is Gsync/Freesync disabled
4. if you are running a monitor above 60hz, have you tried setting it to 60hz

I know that sounds like a bunch of random things, but just in case this is some weird graphics driver issue, all that is worth trying.

OK I just tried the steps, but still the same stutter. It's okay I really do think something is up with Steamvr and Oculus software and you can't do anything about it. I had my time on the index with this game tho. Great game. Thank you

It's a bit clearer on the video I took, I've slowed down and zoomed in on some parts and enabled controller geometry when holding objects to show that the controllers themselves remain smooth while the objects don't. The stuttering also seems to affect player movement which makes smooth locomotion pretty uncomfortable.

Joecalcone: Have you tried turning off Asynchronous Space Warp?
I had a "lunging" issue in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator and disabling ASW smoothed everything out.

The hotkeys for ASW:
CTRL+Numpad1: Disable ASW, go back to the original ATW mode
CTRL+Numpad2: Force apps to 45Hz, ASW disabled
CTRL+Numpad3: Force apps to 45Hz, ASW enabled
CTRL+Numpad4: Enable auto-ASW
You can also use the Oculus Debug Tool to force ASW into different modes.

Thanks, I'll try that out this evening. I still think it's some sort of engine issue though because the actual controller geometry in game is perfectly smooth. I'll post an update once I experiment with ASW.
