Due to the way the weapons operate, there's no way for me to 'flip' them wholly. May I ask which gun(s) you're having the most trouble with? I'm trying to add enough redundant controls such that firing Lefty is still smooth.
I dont actually have the game, rather it was a question I wanted to ask on behalf of all left handed people. concidering VR is making a come back since the early days of Nintendo Eg, the Power Glove. I was just curious to see if dev's who are making VR games, are taking into consideration the other people who are left handed.

I mean not to be rude or presumptuous here but I wanted to ask. I am greatful to see an actual Developer was able to get back to me on such short notice (the same day) not many games let people use and operate items in their left hand so I figured I would ask early enough.

thank you for taking the time to get back to me on this.

No prob. Basically, the handedness of items is as their real world counter parts. How this shakes out in practice is things like asymmetric bolt handles, chambers and a few buttons will irritatingly be on the left of the weapon, necessitating that a left handed shooter would have to twist the firearm and reach their right hand over to hit it.

Granted, you can choose to use any object in any combination in any hand, so the firearms that are naturally ambidextrous in their operation would work fine as for anyone.

Sadly, there's no way to just flip the weapons cardinality. It would require rebuilding them all from scratch for a combination of geometry, shader, physics and workflow reasons. I wish I could be more accommodating.
Not at all. its always insightful to get feedback, you've answerd my question beautifully and thats all i could ask for so thank you non the less

Not even a lefthanded ASCII thumbs up?
I tend to hold the guns left handed and dont have any issues reloading or pulling back on the slide with any of the guns other than the revolver. left hand relaoding that in a way that the drum bit doesnt fall back into place is a bit awkward so i just right hand it

MP5 is definitely awkward to rechamber back in for lefties, the whole "reach ur right hand over" is true.

however most guns, while made with righties in mind, I can operate just fine. Just some guns are more awkward than others for lefties.

All rifles are already left handed.

If you hold the rifle in your left hand, you're holding it right handed.
It's just that right handed people are weird and hold rifles left handed for some reason.

See, I'm left handed, therefore my left hand is dominant, and thus, I have to hold the rifle with my right hand so I can lift and aim the rifle with my left hand. That's how right handed people do it too.

If you hold the rifle with your left hand, I don't know how you wouldn't find that awkward considering you then have to use your right, non-dominant hand to lift the weight of the rifle, and aim it.

Right handed people have always puzzled me in this regard.

This doesn't count for bullpup models where the shells eject out of the stock where your cheek rests. The lefties gets a lot of hot brass in their face. Unless it's the bullpups that's truly made with both lefties and righties, like the FN F2000 for example.

i would advise you to learn how to operate certain guns with your right hand if at all possible. what should determine how you hold the weapon in my opinion is probably which eye is dominant for you. But then again i'm taking this into account froma training perspective. like im a LEO and we have rifle school coming up. all the AR-15's are right handed. i'm left eye dominant...DAMN... so i'm going to learn how to operate it left handed hopefully just as fast. i'll have to find some work arounds. some things i'll be able to do faster. some will take more time. but from when i have used rifles left handed i have to put my left thumb on the left side of the gun to mess with the safety...which isn't too bad really a rifle isn't something u deploy when ur not expecting a fight. thats what pistols are for. my issue comes with the reloading of the weapon where instead of reaching with my right hand from the trigger gaurd to drop the mag i'll have to reach up with my right hand to hit the mag release. if i find any ways around this i'll let you know. As far as the game goes though its good for you to get used to figuring out how to manipulate these rifles. But a left handed option would be nice i guess.

HEY BUDDY. So you inspired me to make a video in response to your concerns and i hope that maybe you can take something from this video and apply it to your gameplay. Being left handed is no disadvantage. In some cases it can be an advantage. I shoot long guns left handed myself.
