Muskets
I know there is a special group of us who want old guns like the early british muskets and the later muskets like the civil war ones. I think if these would all be welcome in one update and maybe even black power pistols. I don't know how hard it would be to program the ramrod and the igniting cap for the newer ones. I think it would also be cool to have the ability to rip the little ammo packet (I forget what they are called but they have the powder and round ball or minie ball for civil war muskets) and pour the powder into the igniting thingy (I just flat out don't know that one) and pour it into the barrel along with the bullet.

Also with the addition of bayonets I think it would be awesome to also include the type that wraps around the barrel and it is a spike that goes off to the side.

Just some suggestions of types of Muskets I think would be cool to see. These are only some I like and know of.

Springfield Model 1842
Springfield Model 1861
Springfield Model 1855
Mississippi Model 1841
Sharps Rifle
Just to name a few.

I found a nice source for weapons used in the civil war specifically since thats the area of muskets I'm more familiar with.

From what I know is that they are the flintlock muzzle loaders which is what I was talking about with loading powder into the lock part of the name.
The only one I know of are the blunderbuss and brown bess.
We need more suggestions and I hope you see this. I know you work harder than you should and we will be ok if it takes a while as long as we get them.
Cheers :D

civil war muskets are not flint locks, they are percussion lock, you do not place powder in a pan to ignite it, you place a cap on the hammer nipple.

im a big musket fan, they are incredibly interesting, and there are so many mechanism types and variations.

i would love to see a bunch of old muzzle loaders and such in H3VR, with all the little details and oddities modeled.

hand cannons, matchlocks, wheel locks, dog locks, etc etc it would be awesome to mess with them in game, and load them realistically.

i dont think any game has yet done detailed realistic muzzleloader interactions in VR.

I did not say that they were flintlocks, I probably didn't make it as clear but only one who knows little about muskets would think that the civil war guns were flintlocks. I was talking about both types of loading. but for the rest I completely agree and wish we had muskets ingame. I come from War of Rights which is a US Civil war game with realisticness all over it + ragdolls.

i must have misread.

i play war of rights too, fantastic game, i dont play often because ive honestly not had much interest in playing flat games since getting into VR.

now if we could one day get a game like that in VR, it would be incredible.

for now black powder muzzle loaders in H3VR would be amazing.

Imagine line of wieners shooting at you in full formation with black powder muskets :) I would buy the game a second time.

its a good idea but what about the pouder that will be hard for him to program

+1 again for muskets :)

I´ve seen some weapons with some kind of barrel-break mechanism with those ignition caps.
If I remember right it was a Pietta 1857 Smith Carbine, .50 Cal that looked incredibly interesting and fun to shoot. Youtuber Skallagrim used it to shoot at medieval armor.

I guess they will be much easier to implement since the barrel break loading is already available and only the caps would be needed.

Not so sure about barrel-loaded guns, but the magazine-like handling of the gunpowder seems to be a good point/idea.
Would love to hear a dev comment on the details though.

provided he made them use paper cartriges that you place at the muzzle to load and then have to ram them home with the ram rod (grab the rod, move it forward to pull it out then ram it into the bore, when you let go it clips back into it's stored possition that could as far as the game is concerned act like operating the bolt), then as far as the hammer is concerned the cap or powder for the primer just spawns as part of loading the round with the ram rod, might get more complicated when it comes to cap and ball revolvers although perhaps the idea of a ramrod could be a whole new bit of code for the lot.

in addition to the guns there would need to be an ammo system, I would suggest either having the ammo stored in a 10 shot cartrige pouch that when picked up out of inventory can be loaded and unloaded like a magazine or clip for paper cartriges but also just by putting it up against the muzzle it will place a round in the muzzle to be rammed home.
either that or allow there to be "bandolier" slots designed to allow single rounds to be carried such as a cowboy pistol belt

LETS GOOOOO ITS OUT

Would you be able to use the muskets in any game mode other than the ranges? You'll be outgunned quick by modern Sosigs.
