Pick your "pickiest reload" gun, and just go slowly through the movements. Each gun, due to the nature of the physics that Anton has modeled, does have it's own "character" that you have to learn (the USP's are very different in feel when reloading to the m9's to me)
Just go slow, and ramp up the speed until you feel comfortable. I mean look at Jeditobiwan, dude has hundreds of hours in game and makes reloading look like a cakewalk, but if you watch all of his streams? He struggles just like the rest of us when ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan. Just...less often because he's practiced so much
Essentially, it'll ignore getting the mag in just right, so long as you get the end more or less into place, it'll snap into position and animate like you got it right. It's not a BIG snap-to, but it bypasses the magazine deflecting at a 90 degree angle from a light tap on the mag-well. (The lack of contact resistance makes judging reloading force cause that behavior.)
Started using this after issues with shotgun shells where it seemed like every time I tried to load a tube, the shell would deflect off into the aether.
Just be aware, the side-effect of disabling this option is that you may inadvertently phase your magazine into your gun if you move too fast. So you trade some difficulty for glitchiness.
I wanna say thanks cause I had NO idea that was an option. Im gonna try using that for now and see if it offers a benefit.
I find pistols the hardest as getting close enough for the mag to engage means my controllers clash sometimes, but I've found being a bit more forward with my reloading hand seems to help.
As others have said though it very much varies by gun. Some are super easy and almost grab the ammo from you; others like the Jackhammer usually have me just dropping the weapon and pulling a secondary if I need to reload in a firefight as I can never get the angle right.
I know for P90 mag spawnlocking, I would need to put it in a specific slot so its held in my hand right as I pull it out for smooth reloads.
That's a good idea I'd not thought of
In the other hand, to compensate that handicap, i use the Stovepipe and magboop mod so I don't use the un-physical reload "advantages". So I still have to position the mag properly.
Hope it helps.
