So what's actually in this game?
Is this just a VR shooting range or is there actually objective based game-modes and the such? I'm asking because I'm interested in buying the game

It's both. At it's core it's a hardcore firearms simulator with a bunch of different scenes/mini-games. Some of those scenes are simple sandbox shooting ranges to do your own thing in, some are objective based mini-games with online leader boards (Take & Hold or Cappocolosseum) and then there's Rotwieners which is a massive rougelite zombie survival.

If you're looking for a Boneworks/Half Life style narrative experience then you won't find it here but if you're after the best VR firearms handling, goofy meat-based humour, varied and well thought out mini-games/scenes and the best dev/game community out there then I do highly recommend it.

If you have to ask this question, then this game is probably not for you. This game features +300 different firearms, This is a gun fanatic's dream, being able to fan a revolver, spincock a leveraction, or pumping a shotgun with one hand feels amazing.

This game does not support multiplayer, but some gamemodes can be fun. take and hold is a great wave shooter, and rottweiners is a decent rpg zombie-like gamemode.

if your looking for a more narrative driven game, Boneworks, Arizona Sunshine, or half life:alyx might be a better choice.

if you want multiplayer, check out pavlov.

If you are a gun fanatic, get this game.

You've got a wide library of firearms and not firearms, ranges and minigames to try out some shooting, and full on game modes such as Take and Hold (semi-stealthy and wave fighting), Meat Fortress (fast and loud combat sandbox styled after TF2), and Rotwieners (Open world permadeath zombies).

There isn't really a story to it, just hundreds of guns, several attachments to modify to your liking, and a nice assortment of scenes and modes to try and get good at.

The Take and Hold mode is worth the asking price alone. Its similar to a roguelike where you get random weapons (out of 300+) and kill hotdog soldiers in a procedurally generated map while getting better weapons and attachments the whole time...

Agreed, Take & Hold is the best element of the game for me. I'd buy the game just for that gamemode alone.

I must ask, how do you do it? I mostly play the Meat Fortress scene because I cant for the life of me survive Take & Hold. Regardless of what I try, the sosigs with their auto-shotguns in wave 4 or 5 take up so much of my health with just a single shot that even going in with full health will have me dead in a minute. Being distracted by encryptions does not help either.

There are a couple options to lower the 'difficulty" and i suggest trying those out, especially if you're 'newer' to VR or H3VR in general.

You can slow down bullets to not be almost-instant, making most hallways very dodgable, and the HP pools are very easy to notice.

otherwise, it's just a bit of 'git gud' practice!

Taking corners slowly, having your weapon ready, Having a good sense of target, practicing your sense of target, having a proper set-up for full-room really helps me too.

My best has been wave 16 (and some 450+ enemies) for a couple hours, and generally it's still a bit of RNG even as i've gotten better. Some weapons just don't preform well, some are run-killers, and Sosig shot-guns are very, very bullshet.

Corners, cover, and a pistol will be your friend. The more you can control a sightline to where enemies spawn, the easier it can be.

Wave 4/5 is good though, I generally find that's when i'm switching to automatic firing for quicker hits. Sosigs with full-body armour generally force me out of position, where I try to rush around them. Otherwise, I stay still unless a gernade rolls by.

Oh I have exactly the same challenge. On regular difficulty I usually don't make it past wave 4 either. But I do have loads of fun trying. :)

You can lower the difficulty of the mode as well as opt for your own spawn-in weapons. I usually use the latter and start with an M4 or something similar with a drum mag. Then I just go to town mowing down hot dogs.

Generally I would recommend you keep your distance and use grenades, Grenades, smokes and flashbangs can help buy you time to get away or take them out. Encryptions are a good idea to take out rapidly aswell, if its just some normal red crystal encryption just focus on that as if you take it all out it kills everything, if its hardened try to take out high priority enemies such as said AA-12 armored guys and avoid getting flanked, if they get near you turn your attention to the sosigs. If you have an elevated position with only a ladder up to it try to get up there, swarmer is similar, get into an elevated position, deal with the swarmers whilst trying not to let the sosigs flank and overwhelm you. If in any scenario you don't have an elevated position try to keep agile and use nades constantly, don't stick to one spot and try to avoid gunfire.
