If you're looking for a Boneworks/Half Life style narrative experience then you won't find it here but if you're after the best VR firearms handling, goofy meat-based humour, varied and well thought out mini-games/scenes and the best dev/game community out there then I do highly recommend it.
This game does not support multiplayer, but some gamemodes can be fun. take and hold is a great wave shooter, and rottweiners is a decent rpg zombie-like gamemode.
if your looking for a more narrative driven game, Boneworks, Arizona Sunshine, or half life:alyx might be a better choice.
if you want multiplayer, check out pavlov.
If you are a gun fanatic, get this game.
There isn't really a story to it, just hundreds of guns, several attachments to modify to your liking, and a nice assortment of scenes and modes to try and get good at.
Agreed, Take & Hold is the best element of the game for me. I'd buy the game just for that gamemode alone.
There are a couple options to lower the 'difficulty" and i suggest trying those out, especially if you're 'newer' to VR or H3VR in general.
You can slow down bullets to not be almost-instant, making most hallways very dodgable, and the HP pools are very easy to notice.
otherwise, it's just a bit of 'git gud' practice!
Taking corners slowly, having your weapon ready, Having a good sense of target, practicing your sense of target, having a proper set-up for full-room really helps me too.
My best has been wave 16 (and some 450+ enemies) for a couple hours, and generally it's still a bit of RNG even as i've gotten better. Some weapons just don't preform well, some are run-killers, and Sosig shot-guns are very, very bullshet.
Corners, cover, and a pistol will be your friend. The more you can control a sightline to where enemies spawn, the easier it can be.
Wave 4/5 is good though, I generally find that's when i'm switching to automatic firing for quicker hits. Sosigs with full-body armour generally force me out of position, where I try to rush around them. Otherwise, I stay still unless a gernade rolls by.
Oh I have exactly the same challenge. On regular difficulty I usually don't make it past wave 4 either. But I do have loads of fun trying. :)
You can lower the difficulty of the mode as well as opt for your own spawn-in weapons. I usually use the latter and start with an M4 or something similar with a drum mag. Then I just go to town mowing down hot dogs.
