VZFit for home
Not sure if this company knows where they are going. They abandon the VIRZoom bike for the VZ Fit bike for the gym , but now are trying to see if we will fork over money for VR eqquipment to use the VZ fit at home. Why not just support the original bike for home use?

Only Oculus Go and Quest will be supported unfortunately. I'll have to wait to see reviews for the new app and what updates come to it and if it's promising try to get one of those headsets when it's on a deep sale.
New update on the VZfit. Remember seeing somewhere that the subscription is suppose to be free for us legecy VirZoom bike owners. Still have to get a Oculus Go though and not sure I want to have to fork over money for that, but to be able to ride anywhere with street view might be worth it.

I just have such a bad taste in my mouth over this whole experience. I might buy a vzfit sensor if I could use it with my existing VR setup. I might get a new VR setup if I could use it with my existing bike. But buying the sensor and a new VR platform just makes me feel like I never should have bought the original bike to begin with. It might as well be a 300 dollar paperweight.
I have a sensor that they sent me when I was having issues with the bike and its speed changing issue (which it still has), so I would only need the HMD. If I could get one cheap or used might try, but agree that it sort of @#%sses me off that the original bike and PC or PSVR setups won't work.

Hey maybe they should do a bundle. Buy the oculus VR and get the sensor for free, or half price, if you're a virzoom bike owner. #marketing
Several of us clearly stated multiple times that we were willing to pay them for more content and upgrades. Instead we were ignored and told updates were just around the corner. We filled out questionnaires and were told things were being tweaked. Then silence fell and they got funding for gyms. Now some of us are getting more questions (I’m assuming to secure more funding presentations to other backers with big pockets) to do who knows what. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I won’t be buying all new stuff to help someone’s pet project to be funded until they get board; rinse and repeat.
Just got some clarification directly from VirZoom. If you have the original bike there will be no need for the sensor as the new apps will have built in support for the bike. Also, as an original bike owner, there will be no monthly fee. Unfortunately, the new apps will only be supported on the Oculus Go or upcoming Quest. Maybe someone will be able to figure out how to play Oculus Go games on a Rift or Vive or PSVR. I know that you can play Rift games on a Vive and vice versa.
VZfit Explorer looks interesting. I wonder how distracting it is with the street view images constantly transitioning.
Noticed that in the demo video that they show. Maybe if you pedal fast enough it won't show as much. I have an elliptical with Ifit and it allows you to use the Google Street view. App is really great in that you can set a route from anywhere Google Street View has data. Can go back to where you use to live or where you took vacations. The elliptical is slower than a bike and the transitions are very visible. Also, they are limited to being viewed on the display from the elliptical or from a TV so they are not 360. Would be willing to invest in a Oculus Quest when they come out, if this app turns out to be any good. Not going to purchase a GO as it would be outdated in a couple months.

I found a new Oculus Go (32gb version) for $100 (half off), so went ahead and ordered it. Hopefully I can get in on the VRfit beta using my existing bike and give it a go.
I am suppose to be on the list for the beta. Waiting to see when it starts , but hopefully not until the Quest comes out.

Hey everyone,

I know it's been a long time since we've said anything on here. By now hopefully you've all received an email from us last night about VZfit and what it means for our original bike owners. If not, livingonwheels posted a new topic here with the complete text of the message for you. Thanks for copying that livingonwheeels.

I think the email covered most of everything we wanted to say. I know it's been frustrating for everyone for the past year as you waited for updates. It was a frustrating year for us as well. We teased a couple of exciting in-progress projects that unfortunately didn't come to fruition. It was unfortunate and there wasn't much we could say about it.

I'm sure many will question our decision to narrow our focus to the Go and Quest. Some of the speculation on here is correct. Choosing the Go and Quest basically means one development path, which allows us to focus on features and content. We spent so much time trying to support so many different platforms. We sincerely thought it was the right thing to do, but the audience never grew large enough to support the effort required on our part.

We're happy to get back to conversing regularly with you all, but we'd like to do it within our own community, where we've got all of our team present and ready to respond. So if you'll come with us to vzfit.com, please speak up on our forums there. We really do want to hear from you and that's where you'll find us.

Thanks

I have posted a question here

The new thread might be the best place to answer questions about the new home version.
I have really been looking forward to using VirZoom with my home bike. So when I heard there was a sensor kit I got excited....then I read about it....less interested. I mainly use a WMR Odyssey for VR, but I also own a Go, and may get the Quest.....I really would like to see them support my WMR on steam, but I get the need to focus on one path while they develop the technology. I'm not happy about it, but I get it......but here is where me getting it fades into oblivion. A hardware license? Really? Do you even understand your market? We are not Gyms....we're homeusers. I'm not going to pay for a hardware license for hardware I bought. If you want to sell individual content titles or a season pass etc...I'm down for that. but the idea that I need to pay a monthly rate to use hardware I paid for.....that will NEVER happen....Go/Quest/WMR whatever comes next..it does not matter. At this point I will just wait for another company that has a clue about the VR user market which let's face it is mostly also still the PC gamer market. I do want VirZOOM to succeed. I love the idea of VR working with my stationary bike. I never had the option to use the VirZoom bike because it will not work for my height and size. I have a wonderful bike already and needed these sensors....but no I am not purchasing hardware I then have to rent after purchasing....that's why the Tivo went in the trash.
