The Truth about Anna Graem. *Spoilers*
*EDIT START*
This post isn't perfect. And has a couple issues here or there, that I'm too lazy to go through and fix.
However- I've made a Guide for this specific discussion, in the "Guides" section, called "The Truth of Anna Graem. *Spoilers*". It's been put together better, It's more recent. And also has some very interesting Extras, that others have found, and brought to my attention.
So i highly recomend you go Read That, Instead.
*EDIT END*

Again, in case you ignored the Title. *Spoilers* If you haven't gotten Dorothy's ending yet. A TL;DR Is near the bottom of the page, if you don't really care about the "Why".

All of this information is what I've pieced together from the Main game, and the Special Demo Version. I've noticed some confusion surrounding Anna, and who exactly she is. So I decided to try and clear the air. Spoiler Alert, She's Not Jill's dead Girlfriend, Lenore. How was this even a logical conclusion?

Now then, first off. Who is Anna Graem? Well, She was the Daughter of Dorothy's Guardian/Mother, Sophia Graem. However, Anna died long before Dorothy was ever assigned to Sophia. (Dorothy's "Roll-out" age is never disclosed in game. So the best I've got, is at Least 3 Years had passed between Anna dieing, and Dorothy being assigned to Anna's Mother.
The Timeline doesn't really line up with Anna being the ghost of Lenore, huh?

Anna was diagnosed with Nanomachine Rejection Syndrome, sometime after Highschool. (Assumed age 17-19.) Most of the time, Nanomachine Rejection is detected very early on, when you're still just a fetus, and can thus be cured with almost no issues. (Cat Boomers.) However, in very Rare cases you only start showing symptoms in your teenage years, and sadly that's what happened to Anna.
This is also what happened to Lenore- Jill's ex-girlfriend. Just thought I'd throw that in here, as it's not really stated in game.

So Anna spent the next 3-4 years in a Hospital, under special Quarantine for Nanomachine Rejection patients. However, her time was not spent completely alone. There was one other Patient there, a girl named Lanette. They where the only two people being treated for Nano-Rejection, at the time. Thus Anna became very close with Her.
Sometime around the Third year of treatments. Something went wrong with Lanette's immune system, and she contracted Tokyo Flu. (Tokyo Flu is basically a "Super Flu", that can only be avoided with the help of Nanomachines.) This forced the Doctor's to rush her treatment ahead of schedule, in hopes of reducing the symptoms of the Flu. But this unfortunately caused her Nanomachines to react unexpectedly, and they went wild. Tokyo Flu Eventually reached her Brain, and sadly, Lanette passed away.

Anna continued her Studies while in the Hospital, and she became a self-made Honor Student. She ranked top 5 in more then 3 college admission exams. Also, she was quite skilled at Piano, and the Guitar!... Somehow... Despite losing one of her arms to Nanomachine Rejection Syndrome. After a hard-fought 4 years, She managed to pull through the Treatment. Becoming one of the very few people (2%) to survive Late Nanomachine Rejection Syndrome. Sometime (presumably Shortly) after getting out of the Hospital, she was hit by a Truck. Which killed her. Wow. What a way to go after all that, huh?

And that's the sad story of Anagram Anna Graem.

TL;DR Anna's the deceased Daughter of Dorothy's Guardian/Mother. She got Late Nanomachine Rejection Syndrome. Lost her arm, got treatment. Lived through it all. Then got hit by a Truck and died. The End. Clap Well... Not quite.

So what's the reason that Anna shows up as a "Ghost" for Jill?

Well it's sure as hell not because of Lenore Dieing!... That would make things too simple. And Logical! Anna first shows up at Least a full FIVE days Before Lenore dies. From first contact, it's at least 10 Days before Gabriella shows up, and tells Jill about Lenore's death. So that idea is a complete Bust.
Spoiler for reasoning. The first time Jill sees Anna is in the Special Demo Version of VA-11 Hall-A. Which takes place at Least One Day Before the start of the Full Game. According to Gabriella, who shows up on 'Day 9, Wednesday'. Lenore died "Last Saturday"... Which was 'Day 5, Saturday'. So Lenore dieing has Nothing to do with Anna showing up as a "Ghost"

Also, Anna isn't a Ghost. She's more like a Holographic projection. Because of a Cluster of Anna's Nanomachines which stayed after death, and then formed a Hive-mind because of Anna's Residual Brainwaves... And Nanomachines... According to Alma, anyhow. Which would explain the "Glitching" that happens when Anna is visible to Jill. And also why she sometimes appears on the TV screen. On Day 17, Jill asks Alma if she believes in Ghosts. Which causes Alma to respond by telling Jill about the "Nanomachine 'Ghost' Theory"

So! After ALL of that. Why, does Anna show up to "haunt" Jill?
Uh... Um... Well- You see... I really don't know.

Best i can guess is that she's just there Literally for the sole reason of messing with the Player, and Jill... Yep, that's it. I mean, i suppose she's also keeping an eye on Dorothy? and making sure that Jill also keeps an Eye on her? It's really hard to say. Because we're just straight up, not given enough information, sadly.

I guess it's a good enough answer. Anagram, is just "there". Don't think too much about it.

Hopefully this story get's an End someday.
Have a good Night/Day Folks! :steamsalty:

Yeah, that's the problem with the Dorothy's ending and Anna, you clearly get to know who she is, but you still have no clue of WHY you can see her.
Ryasyr Aug 6, 2016 @ 10:47am
Actually Jill Herself seems to imply She knew Anna. (maybe from High school?) Somehow, and that Anna is haunting her because they were freinds before Anna Died. But this is merely conjecture on my end

Also Anna break the 4th wall, she knows that Jill is the main character (but that could be just a joke), and can mess with the interface.

Yeah that was nice ( Remind me of Undertale ) but I felt the idea was underexploited, was just like a little mess once, then nothing.

Forgive me if I'm a little off, it's been awhile. But i believe it's from the "Special Demo", and is mentioned depending on what Drinks you serve Anna.

Ah, ok, that makes more sense why it sounds vaguely but not entirely familiar.

It is a real bummer they didn't give a solid explanation for the link between Jill and Anna in the main plot. But may be since Anna could the 4th wall that is the only explanation required. She is a glitch in the game... which is aware of the player.

Aye just done the game, I think the Nanomachine theory could be true. If you play the "Start" after epilogue where Jill chat with Anna and Gaby was sleeping and through the selection questions about related to truth. You will get an extra cutscene that shows a short hair girl with two arms intact and crutch. We don't know who she is and it might not be Anna since someone on Reddit mentioned she looks like a combination of Jill and Anna.

My theory is that maybe the picture is taken after the car crash and she did survive since Alma told us that she donated her hands to this one girl who got into a car incident and crushed her right arm. Seem familiar? My guess is she is Anna and she did survive again after the truck-kun crash but it could be that her near death experience caused the Nanomachine to become a ghost? And the ghost told the Anna personality and all but also become a separated individual as a whole, who's know.

Since we see a lot of creepy pictures of the new Sukeban game and it might set in VA-11 universal, we might get more info about this whole Nanomachine ghost theory thing.
I think that the reason she's hanging around as a nanomachine ghost (as she clearly is) is that she loves her mother, and probably was able to passively witness Dorothy growing up and her mother loving her, so she is very protective of Dorothy. She messes with you to feel out if you are trustworthy, and she is also a horny robot weirdo

I know this is technically necro but my theory is jill happened to the close to the location anna died either when it happened or when the nanomachines formed annas ghost and as such they latched onto jill the thing is though is anna turns up alot of the tv when dorothy appears which could imply that anna is partially latched onto dorothy to

You really should play the extra chapters and see Dorothy's ending.

Anna sticks around Jill because she is one of the few people that can actually see her. The Dorothy thing is a bonus to her, I guess. But yeah, Anna is very close to Dorothy as shown in her ending for example. It's also expanded on in the e-book.

SORRY IF THIS POST IS A GIANT ASS BRICK WALL.

Also sorry that this isn't on the most recent guide, that's my mistake, but it's the thought that counts, I guess?

I yap too much to divide it into multiple places to make it easier to read, sure, I can divide it now, given this is an edited text, but I'm way too lazy for that.

Just let it be known there are very little pauses, and lots of spoilers for numerous Sukeban Games, so it might be hard to read. My apologies.

Alright, let's get this started. ( Spoilers Obviously for VA-11 Hall-A and One Shot in the Dark, Now I'm Dead. ) First and foremost, god knows if people still even pay attention to this blog. That's besides the point, I've proof read mostly everything in this little steam discussion and I've got one thing to say, have you guys ever really played the other games, let alone read the short-stories Sukeban provided? I bring this up rather mainly just because, "One Shot in the Dark, Now I'm Dead." exists. It's a game about an AI assistant so conveniently named, Anna. That's mainly all you need to know, same looks and everything, she's just an AI, and has her other arm. Very similar to Anna in VA-11 Hall-A. Now, why I bring this up is rather because when you complete all of the dialogue in Anna's START, you get a popup after the conversation. This popup is a photo of Anna and her talking about how Truth is such a strange and weird thing, and then going on to provide that if you want to know the real Truth, you'll have to trust her. Now whether or not this is actually Anna, who knows. She also has both of her arms, unlike the present Anna we know. Now, in OSitDNID ( One Shot in the Dark, Now I'm Dead. ) near the ending of the game, she begins to talk about the truth. "Truth for the sake of Truth is completely meaningless, it's so much easier to live a lie, isn't it?" And also, "But I and my creator are proud of you, you saw something wrong, you looked into it. You found us, and those that came before us. Maybe if people care enough to face the Truth, the world wont be filled with lies spun around each other." And then to top it off, "I'm uploading myself to the cloud, and I'll do my best to see that everyone everywhere has a shot at seeing the truth." Now, it's quite blank obvious that if you've gone through all of the dialogue, they are very similar. But what stands out the most is that the game takes place in well, whatever the date is for you at the current moment of playing the game, in 2XXX and VA-11 Hall-A takes place in 207X. Now, whether or not that's actually before or after, I'm gonna assume it's before. I'm not the smartest though, just letting that be known for anyone that still goes here or has bigger smarts than I. Anyways, back on track. Point is, in my personal opinion from doing all of these special and secret dialogues, Anna is probably an AI. That's probably why she glitches and that's probably why she can see your text in the game, while Jill is completely oblivious. So, maybe it's two different Anna's, or maybe Anna is just playing a different personality in different times and places. The only fact deferring that is whether any of that is actually canon, and the missing arm. But yeah, that's basically all I have, this wall of text is getting too long for me to even know if I'm repeating stuff way too much, but if people still go here, then feel free to fact check me and whatnot. This is just something I wanted to state since I love yapping, and expressing things I like.
