Silverfall: Earth Awakening

How to make Silverfall and Earth Awakening work perfectly
Ok, that's how I did to have both Silverfall and Earth Awakening perfectly work :

- I first installed Silverfall.

- Then installed Earth Awakening.

- Now here's the trick : from the Library section, right-click on Earth Awakening and select
Properties from the menu. Then select the Local files tab and click the "Verify integrity of
game cache..." button.

- After the verification process Steam will magically download all the missing files.

- Install PhysX legacy software!
https://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12.1031-legacy-driver.html

- If you get low FPS and stuttering, try to set the .exe to Windows XP SP2 compatibility.

- For Earth Awakening, the best max resolution is 1366x768, to see the captions and
dialogues (above that resolution you get unreadable tiny captions).

I use Win 7 64bit, with Geforce GTX1050, my driver is nvidia 398.36!

The game just runs perfectly!

I got suspicious when Earth Awakening installed in about one second so I checked the forums and found this post. Verifying the game cache started up a 1.2 gig download. Everyone who buys both games needs to know this.

I also read on another forum that iff you install Earth Awakening first some files get over-written with the old versions so you need to install Silverfall first as noted in this post.

Working well here too. This game is just as janky as I remember it being but still so good!

thanks. This is great info for people trying to play this classic game.

Small problem though: every time i try to install the PhysX Legacy software, I get a pop up, that the currently installed version is newer, and therefore the setup is canceled.... but I only have the normal driver installed, not the legacy version.... -.- Anyone know how to help me fix this?

Is this on Win 7 or Win 10?

It's on Win 10

Then try this version:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/physx/physx-9-13-0604-legacy-driver/

It seems, legacy driver is officially supported till Win 7, so don't know it will work or not!

You tried, that the game run without installing PhysX legacy?
Demonicon Jan 29, 2020 @ 10:17pm
thx, will try the new link ^^

Yeah, i tried it first without the PhysX Legacy version, but most spell effects are simply missing, like there is no fireball when casting that spell, lightning lights up the surroundings, but without the lightning, and so on.... Also, many sfx are either not working, or only partially working (dunno if the sfx issue is related to PhysX or not, was just hoping that might fix it too)

So, I tried the new link, this time the installation actually worked, also re-verified the files for Earth awakening again (seems it missed a couple files the first time i verified the files).

Game runs okay so far, some graphics are still a little bit wonky (elemental projectiles and meditation in particular), but after 3 hours playing it, it suddenly ran into a fatal runtime error and just crashed to desktop..... dunno if that last bit is related to the graphics bugs, or if it's a separate issue....

Which Videocard and driver are you using?
Demonicon Feb 3, 2020 @ 1:11pm
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB with the latest drivers (ver. 441.87)
ForestDragon Feb 4, 2020 @ 6:28am
Maybe the driver is the problem, my driver is nvidia 398.36.
