Great minds realy do think alike, I've been woundering the same thing, Have you tried adding a jpeg picture or drawing to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever\res\textures\logo and see if that works? Would realy be cool if it does work. maybe the Dev's will add more then whats currently available with a DIY option in a future update.
Here is one I whipped up for myself on one of my trains, but it still needs some work. I want to make the text thicker, and maybe try adding the yellow highlight back in so that it's easier to read and see if it works with thicker letters, else make all the text yellow to match the lettering on the logo.

It was fun to make. Graphic design isn't really a skill I have. I did that in GIMP by googling how to do just about everything.
The H&R with the maple leaf on the stack was clear however, did you do that also?
What kind of Softwere did you use if any? I used the color changer in the game and painted the sam box cars all difrent colors and even had one pulling 3 sets that were red white and blue. That one was hard to miss.LOL! I wish I had the know how to change the skins on anything in game.
I also noticed that some of the written logotype is outlined in black, that can be handy to reduce chances of the writing clashing with the paint colour too, black (or grey scale) acts neutral in this instance.
The logos I've done so far - all British railway companies - are on Steam in the TF workshop and when I've updated them today with GWR, I'll try to upload the template image as well.
