Can't start game (missing executable) *SOLVED!*
Last night, I tried to start my game, but steam said the game executable was missing. I went to check, but there really was no executable in the game's directory.
So I uninstalled the game and redownloaded it, but at the end the download paused and now it says "paused - content file locked - update required".

What's happening? how can I get my game to work again?

EDIT: I managed to solve this issue by uninstaling the game from steam, rebooting the PC, manually deleting the files from the game (in steam/steamapps/common) and then starting steam, going to the settings menu and clearing the download cache. After that, I reinstalled Transport Fever and now it works! Hope this helps, guys!

Try to cancel the installation and try again. If the installation works but your game still doesn't, right click on Transport Fever and click on "Properties". After that go on "Local files" and click on "verify integrity of game files". This will check if there is any files missing, and if there are (such as your missing .exe), it will automatically start downloading the missing file. Hope I helped :)

Sorry, it didn't.
The game is shown in the library as "download paused". I verified the integrity but it says the integrity is 100% verified. When I try to run the game, it displays an error saying:
"An error occured while updtaing Transport Fever (content file locked)" and then it displays the executable file's path.
Anyone from the dev team can chip in?

what I think "content file locked" means is that the .exe is in a folder you don't have access to, so steam can't go to it. Try to install the game again, but this time set a new installation location. I would reccommend creating a test folder on your desktop and set that as the installation folder. If that works, you have solved the problem I think.

I am having exactly the same problem with Assassin's Creed Rogue, which I just paid money for. Even though my Steam Platform lists this game in my library, it acts like I never bought it. When I attempt to launch it, It says "Missing executable". And indeed, there is no executable present in the folder on my computer. I have made sure my AVG sees Steam as an exception, and I've verified files. Of course, now we are aware of the lie "100% verified" when there is no executable.

I'd also like to know why this purchase does not show up in my list of purchases in my account! I purchased this two days ago, so we don't need to review the Steam incantation "it may take 30 minutes before your purchase is processed." 2 days is about 96 times longer than 30 minutes.

I have contacted Steam Support three times and have received no response. I'd like to know why Steam Support doesn't answer. What is this? A Steam Stealing program?
