How to make a train stop in a station indefinitely

This might seem odd to some, but I just built a two-track high speed line in one of my saves and I would like to set up a "train race" before I actually open it for regular passenger service. I know how to create the lines, but what I don't know is how to place both trains on a station (which could be considered a starting line) and make them depart at the same time.

In Pause mode, click on the train(s), there is a 'stop' button to the bottom right of the dialog box. Click once to halt train and again to restart it.

It might be simpler to put two depots at the end of the station and set the trains up, one in each depot, before assigning them to their respective routes.

Finally, Tab out of pause mode to get them going.
