Think I might have set my forest density too high.

I like forrests, but I'd go for a bit less of it^^

What did you set the number to? I set it to 2.0 and density to 0.5

It's not bad initally, also enabled the industry button, so I can now add the odd industry that's just too far away etc, makes the game abit easier if you get a nice map but some poor industry.

And I doubled the timer to 4000 ms. So takes twice as long. But feels abit more realistic.

vegetation = {
forestLevel = 0.82, -- 0.0 - 1.0
forestDensity = 2.0, -- 0.25 - 4.0
singleDensity = 0.0, -- 0.0 - 100.0
treeLine = 160.0
},

Not a fan of the industry button. I play on a large 1:5 map with 6 cities and 33 industries. 2x complete sets and goods, plastik, chemical plant, food factory, construction materials a third time. Since tis also mountainious and has a huge river across the map its the biggest challenge I ever faced. Also 8000ms per day and hard mode of course.

Edit: On the 1:5 map I set it to:

vegetation = {
forestLevel = 0.65, -- 0.0 - 1.0
forestDensity = 0.8, -- 0.25 - 4.0
singleDensity = 0.3, -- 0.0 - 100.0
treeLine = 290.0
},

Looks like this:

A bit sparser, but thats what I wanted. The fun thing about this map is the river. From water level to the "normal" height after the slope its 120m....... awsome!

Cool I'll run some test maps with the new figures.

Once made a map from a key that was like LakesAndRivers or something like that, it wasn't specifically that but it made a large map with 3 huge lakes in the middle all interconnected by some short rivers. Was an awesome shipping map. But I can't remember the combination I made tried hundreds of combinations still can't get the map layout to generate what I originally had.

I can tell you 0.8 is a bit sparse close to the treeLine, but 2.0 is almost too much. In general I'd suggest you aim for ~1.4. For me it'S perfect when the trees ground texture ist the 2nd one (the one for dense forrest) all the way through the forrest.

I'll make a series of tests, I like the dense forests, reminds me of home, where I grew up, I miss that where I live, here forests are small areas, almost like farms. Always wanted to go and live in north usa/canada, they have big forests.

Do also experiment with the treeline. I do lower it signifficant and raise the forestLevel instead. So hills do look like mountains, mountains like ... something really big and you get nice green valleys.
