the semiauto is:
click in linemanager on line, select vehicle replacement tab, hit the info symbol
auto: same as semi but with activated auto replacement after set lifetime %
* Open the Line Manager.
* After the name of the Line, there's a grayed-out circle shaped icon. Click on it.
* Select the vehicle(s) you want to replace the old vehicle with (click the "gear" on the right). Be sure if you're setting up a train be sure to include the engine and all the wagons you want- there's no "partial" auto-replace.
* Now click on the "On" button. Note that the grayed-out circle shaped icon in the Line Manager is now bright white, meaning the auto-replacement is active.
* Do that for each Line you want to auto-replace.
Well, well - you learn something new every day.
I've played too many times when I just set up auto replacement, and then never had money to do anything because of constant vehicle purchases. As long as a line is making money, even with out of date vehicles, I'm okay with it.
Understood.
I tend to be a control freak as well. I did an 1850 to 2000 Achievement run on Hard Mode to score as many Steam achievements as possible in a single playthrough and got to about 1935 with everything so profitable that the only thing to do was to let the game run to accunulate the $1 Billion and to get the year 2000 achievements. I was over $300 Million at that point.
I set all the lines to auto-replace and let it run at 3x speed and went and got dinner. It's only when I came back that I noticed that I was getting old age warnings on some vehicles.
The replacement vehicles I'd selected were no longer available.
Not a big problem.
