Megalomaniac 1:5 All USA settings Hilly.
Probably due to the corridor nature of the 1:5 ratio, but having run this seed in 1:1 it is consideribly different! This version of the seed has a nice open flat area to the north of the map, great for a starting area, getting progressively more hilly the more south you go.
Unlike its 1:1 counterpart, no rivers at all on this one, Towns seem to have a nice spread, and breaking south would be quite a challenge for the early game.

Even if you had the exact same seed before the change, you would not get the exact same setup as someone else. Even if you used their exact same seed, your towns, roads and industries would be in different locations. There was going to be no way you would generate an identical map as someone like Colonel Failure, unless you otherwise had the exact same computer as he has, since the game also utilizes your hardware in the process. I tested this out with another Youtuber. Used identical map settings as he did, but got different placements of towns, roads and industries.
I just generated a map I used back in December. Exact same terrain and locations (and names) of towns, but I get different industries being generated in different locations than previously, so something obviously has been changed, but you'll still get the same mountains, lakes and rivers after the change as before, as long as you haven't actually changed any of the actual settings.
I solve that issue by offering a link to download a save game of a map I use to ensure that viewers can play along if they so desire.
Editing any of the lua or mdl files won't affect the ability to get achievements. There is even a setting that you can I believe set to True (default setting of False) that allows Achievements even when mods are active.
Has 2 river systems a lot of valleys and a big lake in the middle. I like to start in 1850 and use steam boats to take the wood up the river to the lumber mill.
