Interesting Map Seed Thread
Figured I'd start a thread for anyone to post some good seeds for free map play.
I'm looking for some with good looking areas with a couple of lakes etc

A good large map I found is:
USA
has a nice big lake, with useful river structures.

Cheers

@PickPay - Yes, the Mac will likely have a different result since it's unlikely to use the exact same random number generator code.

Ok thanks...
Are all the bridges too low for ships ? Even when I rebuild it wont do, which means I have to change the terrain and make a huge high bridge over a short river... Early game its not viable. So how do you manage ship lines ?
Skunk Monkey Nov 20, 2016 @ 2:25am
While it's true that all the generated bridges are flat and therefore cut the shipping lane off, it's not hard or expensive to tear down a brige and replace with an arched wooden one.

A river along the large 1:3 flat map (not so flat actually) and with a big lake in the center:

Scenario: Europe or USA (different town placement)
World Format: 1:3
Terrain Size: Large
Terrain Type:Flat
Seed: Ypt

Enjoy!

P.S. Really the challenge to start from 1850 on hard (I have failed).

for a Huge USA map is absolutely astonashing. It features an epic river system in the middle of the map with a thicker lakeish part. There is a ton of industry located by the river aswell as plenty of towns. The river branches of in several directions to the north and features a cool mountain range to the south west.

It is without a doubt the coolest seed I've found.

I tried that one with Huge at 1:2 and Mega at 1:2 both had the same river system but towns were in diffrent spots and hills were slightly diffrent
I have the config file setup to minimize industries as I have the industry button enabled
have town spacing set to 30 km
initial roads off
thanks for the seed, will make one awesome mega map to work with

Gotta quit genning maps and actually play game:

CatsMeow5 - Flat; River runs length of map with tributaries.
CatsMeow12 - Flat; River runs length of map.
CatsMeow33 - Flat; Two rivers converge in first part of map and then runs as a single river to other end..

CatsPaw - Flat; River runs length of map.
CatsPaw4 - Flat; River runs length of map.

DogCat - Hilly; No water; Central flat area.
DogCat12 - Hilly; Some Rivers; Valley length of Map.

DrWho25 - Flat; Another river run map with a large lake at one end.

StarTrek22 - Hilly, River valley.

StarWars - Hilly. Isolated valleys. Cross river in one map segment. Looks challenging.
DarthVader - Flat. Two rivers at each end of map converging in the middle segment.

BattlestarGalactica - Flat. Another river run map.

Custom maps. Hate the yellow sand for USA, so use Euro grass instead, but with all USA settings. Not sure if it will make a difference. Maps are 1x3 and mostly saved for geography than town/industry placement, so might be little hard starting off in. Also have not regened them with different elevation types. Some might be more interesting with higher/lower elevation.

FYI: Remember to make a backup folder of your save game folder to keep your initial maps, so you don't lose them if something happens in game.

Try "Ajinomoto"

It is a nice seed for 1:1,1:2 and 1:3 maps.

Game needs a map editor.

My experience with the map seeds is that you should be able to get the same terrain and topography with the same map seed and settings regardless of the computer that generated it (though as mentioned different Operating Systems will probably generate different terrain.

When you change whether the game generates a European (Green) map, or USA (Brown) map, the spawn locations of towns and industries are identical, but where you might have a town on the USA version, you might have a Farm with fields or the European version instead.

When it comes to city names and locations, with identical map settings and map seed they will be identical on different computers (with the same OS), but roads, resources, and factories will be in different places.

I tried this with one Youtuber (Steep). I used his exact same map settings and seed, and generated an identical map with the exception of the location of industries, and the roads. All the cities and names of cities were otherwise identical, but it wouldn't have been possible to play along with him because I would be connecting different resources to different industries.

I really with we had the option to upload save games to the Workshop. That way those who actually wanted to share the map could do so, since the map seed will generate slightly different maps on different computers, but if you don't care about the configuration of industries and just want the topography, the Map Seed is good enough.

Europe 1:1 Large everything medium "FlemoxinSolutab"
Nice river in the center for easy Oil/fuel boatstuffs :)

I found a few that aren't just 'a river runs through it'. Settings: USA, 2:1, medium,medium, 1850,easy.

The seed doesn't have to be enormously complicated.

From a couple of trials it seems the basic geography (but not placement of towns/resources) is retained. No guarantees, though.

Any predominantly water Seeds? Like islands surrounded by water?

I'm looking for those too. I wish there was an option when generating the terrain to have any control over water.
