Does having 2 engines help
With some of these trains im running im wondering if having a duel engine setup will help them come up to speed faster and increase acceleration. Anybody know if that works?>

I do know adding two engines help with pulling and increases the power the train has, but acceleration I do not know.

However, 2 separate trains can be smaller (faster & better acceleration), and have better fequency. Just something to consider....

Possible counter point to the 2 trains faster (and they frequently are) is it can complicate busy junctions because there are twice as many trains grabbing signal blocks. Much higher chance of trains stalling and never reaching top speed so the net result could be negative. Really depends on the line traffic.

I have two engines on a long fuel line, it's a busy line and two trains half the length was ultimately less efficient.

Ok i thank you for your quick replys.
Also two other questions.
Is there a way to make it where the trains from the start are always available no matter what year it is?
Also if a train is longer then the platform will it still load unload the whole train?

There is a mod to allow all vehicles to be available from 1850.
Trains longer than the platform will load and onload just fine. Make sure any switch needed is beyond the end of the train though.

If you add the same engine to the train:

- the traction force is doubled
- the max velocity is the same
=> the power is doubled
- the mass increases a little bit
=> the acceleration is NOT doubled, but nearly (because of the added mass). If it's a long train this has only a little effect so you can say the acceleration is nearly doubled (a bit less).

So adding a locomotive can make sense if the loco is not strong enough or accelerates too slow. I find it better than making 2 trains because so you can work with single track and easier signaling and dont get too much traffic. In my current game I have only 1 train per line because it's more simple. But the trains have to be longer, maybe then I need to make the cargo stations longer (current: mostly 320m) or "cheat" with the trick that you just make the train longer and have long enough track to make sure it can still turn.

Adding an additional locomotive to a train will help with the increased Power and Tractive Effort that the additional locomotive offers, in more or less the same way as upgrading a train with a more powerful Locomotive. Hover over the Power Rating of a particular vehicle, and it will tell you how quickly it will accelerate to a certain speed on a particular slope (Flat, Medium Slope or High Slope). Compare the numbers between a train with one locomotive versus two to see if the extra cost is worth the increased power.

To see what kind of effect adding an additional locomotive will have, just compare an existing train with one you configure in the depot. If you don't have the money to buy one, just load the save with the No Costs Mod enabled, and then disable the mod when you're done, so you can do some comparisons.
