Only way they work is by starting a new map I beleive. Some will work on games you have already started, but most want a new map started before they will take affect.

You can activate them on an existing save. When you go into the load game menu, select your save and click the + button.
*when you do this, that savegame will become inelligible for achievements, even if you turn the mods off again...

it's been a week since my last binge - forgive me TS
today came back to subbed items in steamworkshop but everytime i load the game,
none of the assets or mods are available to load to previously saved games...?
I tried loading a new game but only three mods are able to be added ??
Thanks for your time

when you launch TF you get a menu , so click on the load game key. From the list of your saved games choose the one to play; Then you click on the + button on the right side of the menu.
you have on the left the list of the mods available ( those you have suscribed to )that you can transfer into the right list that is your game. Then click on start button. I think it should work .

Thanks for the response!

when i click on the + icon, the two windows appear, 'Available mods:' (left) - and - 'Active mods:' (right)
the active mods all have a red triangle with exclamation point icon
at the bottom is states: "Some DLCs and/or mods could not be found. Please install them first in order to load this savegame."

my question is - How do I reinstall the items that are already subscribed on steam workshop?
Do I unsubscribe then resubscribe?
I'm missing the installing part of it.

Thanks

unsubscribe - wait a while, surf around a bit (make sure the mod window is not still open) - then resubscribe may help.

Workshop mods sometimes leave some traces behind. You could try to unsubscribe, then manually delete the files/directories in "\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\446800" and resubscribe.
Unless there is some problem with write-permissions, f.ex. caused by your AV, the mods should download eventually even though it might not happen immediately when scheduled.
If they are scheduled for some reason, you can still access the downloads and manually start them by clicking the bottom info-bar in steam or rightclick TpF in the library and click the download item in the menu.

Are you using Transport Fever mods or Train Fever? There are no DLCs for Transport Fever. That error you mentioned sounds like it might be from a Train Fever mod.

I'm having this issue, and all 200 of my workshop mods have just up and vanished. they are still in my subscriptions on the workshop, but refuse to sync with my game. I tried a full reinstall to see if I could fix the issue without individually unsubscribing and resubscribing to all my mods, but it didn't work. I'll try the unsubscribe/resubscribe, see if that does it, although I might not do it all today.

also, I can confirm that the transport fever 2 error does mention DLC, even though none exists yet.

wait, it seems to be fixing itself now, the reistall did it, steam is just manually "validating" all 200-ish mods one by one. should be fixed within the hour.

it seems to have worked, all but one of the mods sorted themselves out with the reload, took a couple hours to download them all, though.
