New Vehicle Skips 1st Destination
Sometimes (not always) when I add a new vehicle to an existing line it will skip the 1st destination and go to the 2nd one.

This is not usually a problem for trucks and trains as I can hit the reverse button when I spot it happening. However, this doesn't work for ships and if I have a really long shipping lane and the 1st destination is the pick up then this really causes some financial issues.

Is there a way I can always get new vehicles to go to the 1st stop in the line when it is added or is it a known bug? Seem to remember something similar happening in train fever.

I've never had this happen personally, usually the vehicles will go to the closest destination first, regardless of it's order on the route list though

Thanks for the reply, definitley wasn't going to the closest port as the ship was created right next to the initial pick up port but it decided to steam all the way across the map to its drop off port 1st :(

Seems like a missing part of the interface to tell a vehicle to skip to the next destination.

The vehicles/trains/ships are automaticly spreading out to not drive in front of each other

I cannot confirm this, but the ships may do that in order to recieve their "loading instructions". You may have noticed that routes generally take time to start shipping items, typically a train or truck will need to do a round trip so the game can aquire the knowledge that something is required at the destination and if so, what that item is.
Maybe with ships generally being so slow, it's skipping a step so it can head up and gather this instruction quicker?

Hmm....I don't think it was that as I only had one other ship on the route which was already fully loaded and some way down the route. The pick up dock had plenty of things to be transported so there was no need for it to spread out.

I've never seen vehicles spread themselves out. I can create 10 trucks and assign them all to the same route and they will just follow each other and not spread out.

you'd think they'd just do what they're told...I am the boss :) There were plenty of items waiting to ship on that line so it should already know what its doing. Also there was already another ship on the line shipping stuff.

It's important to note that this does not happen when adding vehicles to a new line. It only happens sometimes when adding vehicles to an existing line, which leads me to believe that there is an bug somewhere.

I suspect when adding a new vehicle it will set it's waypoint to the same waypoint as the last vehicle on the route. If that vehicle is heading to a different way point then so will it.

***EDIT***

Nope, it's not that....I can't replicate it on a test game. Guess I'll have to try trouble shoot it when I encounter it again.

Well i saw that behavior when i set now buses or trains on my lines. Sometimes they skip some stations sometimes they dont
Lagislazuli Nov 13, 2016 @ 1:46pm
Imho the spreading only works when a line has more than 2 stations. With a simple 2 stop load/unload route i have never seen them spreading, they always went to the same station first. My experience ist that they go from the depot to the closest stop when it has also some minimum distance, in other words if the depot is built directly aside the station they will go to the next station (don't know why but i saw this happen with ships and trucks)
Allusion Nov 13, 2016 @ 1:48pm
I can confirm this happens ALL the time when the Depot is placed in certain spots.
Have to relocate the depot when this happens.
When its ships doing this just reverse them when u notice that they are going to the wrong port.

Vehicles appear to always head to the nearest stop on a line, not the first one on the line

This is not true. When I built 10 vehicles in once and set them to the same line. They will go different directions.

Incorrect, I have a Depot right next to a Machine Factory with a Truck Stop, EVERYTIME I buy trucks they goto the Stop in the city thats the whole map away.
I've changed the line to have the Factory stop 1st, still does it. Change it to 2nd, still does it.
I put the Depot in different locations and it still skips the Stop right next to it which is the supplier.
Devs plz fix!
stovepipe3 Nov 13, 2016 @ 6:17pm
I've seen it happen. I just thought it was the games way of spreading out the vehicles on the line, so they aren't all bunched up.
Gwinda Nov 13, 2016 @ 11:27pm
When new vehicles joins a line, they are first spread out evenly regarding to position. This has nothing to do with the amount of cargo waiting.
Allusion Nov 13, 2016 @ 11:35pm
While that makes sense for Passenger routes, it should be they goto the 1st Cargo destination in the Line.
Or at least give us a choice in options to always make them goto the 1st destination.

Having to Manually reverse 10 trucks is unnecessarily annoying.

Glad its not just me then. Also clicking reverse doesn't seem to work on ships.
